A few days ago I made a post pondering the idea of buying back into Splinterlands and how it could be one of the better investments of the day...
Years ago I made a similar statement when the cost of "Untamed" booster packs were sold at 2k DEC which equated to roughly $1 a pack.

Thats correct - $1 (ONE DOLLAR)

At the time I had calculated that it would be nearly impossible to lose as the 5 card booster packs would have a combined minimum value of about 1$ with the potential for massive profits.

Over the course of the next few months - I had bought boosters and resold the cards in order to buy more boosters - and on and on and on. Round and around - I had accumulated over 800 packs for the airdrops and basically all the legendary cards in the untamed set.

Of course I did some massive liquidating over the past 6 months at un-real profits - selling basically all my cards.

The half a million DEC I had staking was also liquidated at about $10/1k dec.

But the times have once again changed.

The past few months have seen a collapse in nearly all splinterland assets

• Card values plummeted
• Dec value went from $12/1k all the way down to the current $3.4/1k
• SPS was averaging $0.7 per coin and has dove into the pits of hell at a current value of $0.14.

Investing in Crypto is about opportunity and the future of Splinterlands looks bright.

With that being said - I believe one of the better options to invest into is the future of this game and the associated crypto's.
Though, I do see some options being much better than others with the current market situation.

Overview of Options & My Advice

Booster packs and card purchases

• Buy the "Chaos legion" cards OUTRIGHT

The booster packs are $4 a piece and although the airdrops are nice, at the current card valuations your basically guaranteed to lose and are essentially gambling for the future airdrops.
Instead - Buy the cards OUTRIGHT

Legendary cards are under $10!

Epics are under 5!

Gold foils are ridiculous cheap!

For the cost of 100booster packs we are talking over $400. That same money could buy every legendary and epic card in the "Chaos legion set" and probably still have left overs to stack up on the gold foils.

You will 100% - not get that result from 100booster packs
It is way better to just buy the cards at the current values than to gamble on the booster packs

• Another bonus to buying cards is that you also get the DEC value applied to your daily SPS airdrops and it helps you kick ass in the game to improve your tier ranking.

Dark Energy Crystals (DEC)

It has been announced that the utility of the DEC tokens have or will be diminished in the future... I would assume this is the reasoning for the 80% price collapse in the token.
But... I do see the short term trading value in DEC volatility and that it can be purchased in large quantities for cheap right now. It seemingly has found a bottom here around 3$/1k and possibly has been oversold with a sharp move to the upside around $5/1k could easily happen in the near future.

• Buying DEC at current prices, holding for a value increase while collecting the daily SPS airdrop and then buying booster packs with profits sounds like a well-played investment scheme...

Splinter shards (SPS)

I honestly see SPS continuing its descent into the abyss due to the daily airdrops, staking rewards and the release of locked coins. We have over a billion left to be distributed in the span of a couple years and the utility is slim to none at the moment (Vouchers). Though the team has stated that SPS will be at the heart of splinterlands, I can't see much to counter-act the massive release of tokens and the subsequent decline in value per token until the daily airdrops end in 160 days.
Though, I would expect a large jump in value once the airdrops end - and now might be the time to accumulate.

I will not be buying SPS. I also will not be selling any either.
My daily airdrops are added to my massive bag that are being STAKED

• And that right there lies the current situation on price.

Anyone interested in SPS is already content with what they are getting or could get from the airdrops.

Its the clear best option right now- Buy cards directly from market.

• Get higher tier rewards from having better cards
• daily SPS airdrops are increased
• Benefit from value increases in the future when booster packs sell-out
• Rent out cards for profit
