The Downward Manipulation in the DEC Market May Have Just Flipped.

A few days back I wrote a post talking about the manipulation in the Hive Exchange DEC market that was helping to push price down.

After I made that post, the particular technique I pointed out stopped and price stabilized. Then the next day there was a tactic switch. Instead of keeping one huge sell transaction moving around that is so large that it forces real sellers to undercut it and drive the price down, this time it was 4 bots that undercut everyone as soon as anyone tried to get the lowest price and then the bots slowly undercut each other.

The effect is the same but the difference is this second tactic will actually cause the bots to sell some DEC so at a certain point, they run out whereas method 1 never allowed the large order to be the cheapest so it was highly unlikely it would ever sell anything and get smaller.

Well, after days of pushing the market down, it seems like the bots are finally low enough on inventory that they've had no choice but to jump off the sell side and jump onto the buy side.

Take a look at this Depth chart now. It's completely different than it was a few days ago when there were 6,000,000 dec for sale that was dwarfing the buy side.

This is not to say DEC will definitely go up now. I mean, during the rental boom yesterday you could tell that many people who were profitable renting out their cards seem to be rushing to sell their DEC as fast as they made it.

If that selling continues, price will keep going down no matter what the bots do. However, the uneven pressure these bots have been applying to the downside has reversed to the upside for the moment. Any buying pressure right now should be quite potent in sending the price up while selling pressure will be less potent at sending it down.
