Introduction

In this week's challenge we have the MYCELIC SLIPSPAWN card.
This is a rare earth deck card that has 3 abilities over its 8 levels.

Taunt: This skill is already usable since level 1 and it serves to redirect the attack of all monsters (that can attack) to the monster that has this skill.

Forcefield: This skill is unlocked at level 4 and what it does is, Monsters only take 1 damage when attacked by monsters that have 5 or more damage.

Slow: This skill is only released at level 8 and it reduces the speed of all opponent's cards by 1.

Mycelium Slipspawn is a card that has a relatively high MP cost and in my opinion there are two great moves that can be made using this card.

First: As a tank in the first position, thanks to Taunt's ability all attacks will be redirected to her (except attack from cards that have the Scattershot ability) so all other cards are free of danger and have time to end the line of opponent's defense.

Second: It is very common to see this card being used in the last position because it has a magic attack it can attack from that position, thus leaving the first position vacant for a damage dealer such as Grund. While the opponent's attacks are directed to the last position thanks to the Taunt, the tank in the first position can cause a lot of damage and even when Mycelium Slipspawn falls the opponent will still have to pass your tank (Taking into account that the opponent's strategy is not use cards with abilities like sneak, snipe, opportunity).

Battle information and strategy

This battle has a total of 46 MP available with Reverse speed and Earthquake rules.

In this battle I practically ignored the earthquake rule and just focused on attacking first taking advantage of the reverse speed rule. My best option would be to use the Earth deck as it is the slowest deck I have at the moment.

I used the Mycelic Infantry as a tank because he has 1 speed and a good amount of damage while having the shield ability that would reduce melee and ranged damage dealt to him, including earthquake damage. In the second position we have Queen Mycelia whose purpose was to defend the entire team from the earthquake for 1 round since none of my cards have fly.
In the third position we have the Sporcerer that aims to remove the possible shield from the opponent so that the cards that don't have the fly skill receive the earthquake damage.
In fourth position we have the Goblin Psychic whose function is to heal the tank to ensure greater survival in the game. In the fifth we have the Goblin Tower that is here to be one of the main damage dealers of the team when using its blast ability, in addition to possibly defending the opponent's blast ability since all attacks will be directed at Mycelic Slipspawn thanks to its ability from Taunt. And last but not least we have Mycelic Slipspawn who is here to make sure the rest of the team doesn't get attacked before annihilating the opponent's front line. Despite not being a slow card and therefore having a good chance of being eliminated before even being able to attack thanks to the reverse speed rule it plays an important role in this match guaranteeing that all attacks will be directed at it and so the rest of the team can damage your opponent's cards without worrying about being attacked while it's on the field.

My biggest concern in this match was for the opponent to use a Grum lvl 3 since the available MP and reverse speed rule were perfect for him, but luckily that's not what happened. I must say that the game only ended with my victory because my opponent chose some cards that didn't make much sense considering the rules of the game, not to mention the positioning of his cards that in my opinion didn't make much sense.

The Battle

My opponent came to battle with Grum probably already expecting that I would use a strategy more focused on magic damage which was basically what happened but luckily his Grum was only lvl 1 so he didn't have the void ability, which made it easier the match for me. Then he used Tusk as a secondary tank and in this case he had the void ability to reduce magic damage received. Right after Gargoya Lion with also his void ability and fly to not receive earthquake damage. In the fourth, fifth and sixth position we have Molten Ash with his close range ability and Djinn Apprendice and lastly we have Charlok Minotaur who I believe is in this position to maybe fight back the sneak attacks with his retaliate ability.

In the first round the biggest threat for me was destroyed which in this case was Grum. With him out of the way and Queen Mycelia's protect taking the first damage from the earthquake everything was going according to my strategy.

In the second round Goblin Psychic eliminated Tusk and the Djinn eliminated Mycelic Slipspawn but by this time in the championship she had already done her job in a splendid way and it was certainly one of the big reasons why I came out victorious in this match.

In the Third round Mycelium Infantry eliminated Gargoyle Lion, Goblin Tower with its blast ability eliminated Djinn and Goblin Psychic eliminated Molten Ash leaving only Minotaur on the opposing field.

And at the end of the third round the earthquake finished the minotaur and thus ended this battle.

The strategy of redirecting the opponent's attack to a single card is very interesting, especially when you have another card with the ability to heal or triage to ensure that the taunted monster has greater durability in the game. In the case of this specific match even though I have a solid team with a Taunt and Protect as you can see I'm playing in the gold league with a silver deck which could easily be overwhelmed by a correctly positioned gold deck which clearly it was not the case in this game and thanks to that and my strategy I managed to come out with the victory.

I would like to record as a big fan of Yu-gi-oh I ended up parachuting into splinterlands and I was impressed with the game and today it is by far the card game I have the most fun playing. @splinterlands, @play2earn.

OBS: I'm sorry if you notice any spelling or punctuation errors, english is mine as if it were my second language and I still haven't mastered it completely.
