Mixing It Up: How Rulesets Change the Game in Splinterlands

Playing Splinterlands isn't just about picking your strongest cards. You've got to think on your feet, adapt to the rotating rulesets, and pick the right cards for each match. You might even end up using a tank in the last position or a ranged monster up front, breaking from the usual gaming norms. That's what keeps Splinterlands interesting and different from the rest.

Just to let you know, I won't be covering the "Holy Protection" ruleset today. I haven't had a match with that one in over two weeks. But no worries, we've got another interesting ruleset to chat about. So, hang in there while we uncover what makes this ruleset unique in Splinterlands.

Today, we're diving into the "Aimless" ruleset in Splinterlands. This one's all about the Scattershot ability, letting monsters attack any opponent, no matter where they are on the field. With "Aimless", all bets are off, strategies have to change, and the speed of your monsters can make or break your game.

The ruleset for this battle were the following:

Let's go over the ins and outs:

The summoner for my team is:

You might wonder why I picked Thaddius.
The -1HP really makes a difference in this ruleset. It just might give your team the edge to take out an enemy monster in one shot.

First postion:

This card's a good one. Good health, decent speed, and it can fly. And don't forget about the Weaken ability - it shaves off -1HP from the enemy team while this card is still in play.

Backline:

In this ruleset, speed's a big deal, but some protection from attacks doesn't hurt either. Armor can take the edge off incoming physical damage. Even just 1 armor point can counteract up to 5 incoming damage points. With that in mind, let's check out my choices for the backline.

This one's a favorite. Solid damage output, and the Protect ability is super handy in this ruleset.

Like I said, speed matters, so adding the Supply Runner to the team boosts everyone's speed while it's still alive.

And let's not forget Lira - good damage, excellent speed, and the ability to cancel out Flying on any enemy she hits. She's a great addition to the team.

Now, let's check out the other team.

Summonner:

It's a bit of a funny choice, considering this game had the Weak Magic ruleset, making magic monsters less effective. So why choose a magic-counter summoner?! But I get it, the SHRED ability can be useful for getting rid of the opponent's armor.

First position:

This is a high-cost card, but its Double Strike ability can take out weak tanks in no time.

Backline:

This team relies heavily on magic, which actually works in my favor given the ruleset. I wouldn't recommend choosing a magic team with a Weak Magic ruleset, but if you're out of options, it's worth a shot. You never know, it could turn out better than just giving up.
In the end, I walked away with a win and some extra SPS to add to my balance.

Last time I had the same situation where I couldn't get the battle, which was featured in the weekly BMS, so I wrote about a different one, so let's hope you will be lucky with this one!

Even if your opponent would bring the Obsidian wouldn't change much, because you would counter her with Thaddius, but if his Grund would be Level 4 his Trample ability might change the outcome easily! 😁

Nice game good job! 😉
