Splinterlands Weekly Battle Challenge: The Healing Sprite

Another week for @splinterlands battle challenge, this is a good time to share your matches and get some awesome rewards and upvotes from @steemmonsters.

Splinterlands is a blockchain-based, collectible card game that allows users to play and earn rewards based on certain in-game achievements, such as winning skill-based matches and player-versus-player game modes.

This week's theme is "Wood Nymph", I like this theme since it is one of my favorite cards in my Earth Deck, and here is my entry for this week's battle challenge, this is the first time I have submitted an entry after a month due to everything that has been happening in my country (if you heard about the typhoon and how it affected Southern Philippines). I hope you learn something and enjoy it. I love this card personally due to her healing ability and with +Magic Earth summoner right now it gives her even more power than before.

Lore:
A peculiar new bud appeared at the tips of the highest branches of the Elder Tree. The animals living in the tree watched as the strange buds grew, and in a matter of days, burst open. From each bud zoomed forth a tiny sprite. These Wood Nymphs quickly scattered around Anumün in a frenzy of mischief.

I find this card powerful with 4 mana, he could heal the tank and he has 1 magic damage, at LVL 1. Especially in low mana battles, where Goblin Physic is not a viable option, but using it together with Goblin Physic, makes your tank almost unkillable by making a cheesy lineup. Though I think this card will not be usable in the new format, it is still a great card for the old format.

I will not say anything more about my lineup, as you can see I just ran a standard magic spam lineup together with 2 healers, though this one is better than the old meta from WATER with Alric and Venari Wavesmith, especially if you use the Unicorn in the first position (depending on your enemies recent matches) I believed this will not work all the time since all splinters right now can easily counter magic spam in the lower league, almost all attributes can counter magic spam nowadays so spamming magic is not a viable option anymore.

Armored Up: All Monsters have 2 Armor in addition to their normal Armor stat.

Heavy Hitters: All Monsters have the Knock Out ability.

With the current ruleset and the available splinters, the most viable option is to go either Magic or Get a lot of HP, but if you notice on my lineup I have both HP and magic attack, so I will surely have some kind of advantage over to his lineup.

So when I saw his lineup, I am sure, that there is no way I will be missing this match.

• Round 1
  Even though he killed my Mycelic Slipspawn easily since it has the Taunt ability, it is part of the plan, because that is what he is for, to absorb as much damage as he can while my tank is taking less damage and make sure it can survive a round or two.

• Round 2
  In Round 2 both tank cards are dead, thanks to my explosive magic damage I was able to burst his tanks, and thanks to Wood Nymph and Goblin Physic my tank is still somehow alive after being down to 1 HP, though I would say he could dish out huge damage easily since he almost melted my tank even though it has the Shield ability.

• Round 3 and Round 4 (The end)
  Nothing more to say about these rounds, without his tanks, he cannot last longer with all my burst damage coming through his armors, and also even though he had the tank he will be at a disadvantage since I have my Centauri Mage with me, together with 2 healers, and most of his splinters are range attacks. Centauri Mage's ability could easily kill the others sides cards, with the Return Fire ability.

Bonus Tips/Knowledge:

Tank Heal: Restores a portion of the Monster in the first position's health each round

• Restores 1/3 of the max health, rounded up

Shield: Reduced damage from Melee and Ranged attacks

• Attack damage gets halved (rounded up), except attack 1 which deals 0 damage
• Reduces the Thorns damage to 1
• Cancel Redemption damage

---

Taunt: All enemy Monsters target this Monster (if they are able to)

• Everything that hit from the backline will hit taunt first, aside from the card with Reach Ability (it will always hit the tank)

---

Return Fire: When hit with a Ranged attack, Monsters with Return Fire will return reduced damage back to their attacker

• Damage returned is equal to damage of attacker divided by 2, rounded up.

So in conclusion, I would say that Magic Damage/Burst is good in a certain ruleset, but it cannot be spammed anymore just like what happened before in the water splinter with Venari Wavesmith. I can say Wood Nymph is a good complementary card for the new Earth Summoner with +1 Magic, and it can do great things with it with only 4 mana.
