Initial Analysis on Olivia of the Brook and Mimicry

Initial Analysis on Olivia of the Brook and Mimicry
Greetings Jabeelievers!
As the reveal of the new SoulBound Reward Cards are happening in the Splinterverse, let us take a look at one particular card that I think will become a game changer in the meta - Olivia of the Brook.
In this post, we will analyze the use cases of Olivia and the intricacies of her unique ability Mimic. But first, let us review her stats and abilities.

Stats
| Edition | Rebellion |
|---|---|
| Element | Life |
| Rarity | Epic |
| Mana | 6 |
| Magic | 1 |
| Melee | 2 |
| Speed | 3 |
| Armor | 1 |
| Health | 6 |

Abilities
| Ability | Description | |
|---|---|---|
| Opportunity | ![]() | Units with the Opportunity ability may attack from any position and will target the enemy Unit with the lowest health. |
| Mimic | ![]() | At the beginning of round 2 and each following round, gain a random ability from the enemy team. 25% chance to gain a random ability from an attacker when hit. Dispel removes one mimicked ability in the order they were gained. Debilitations, Targeting abilities, Ambush, Weapons Training, Flank, Reach, Charge, and Taunt cannot be mimicked. |
| Reflection Shield | ![]() | This Monster is immune to all indirect, or reflected damage. That means that it will not take damage from Blast, Thorns, Return Fire, or Magic Reflect |

Rulesets Applicability
Olivia of the Brook is undoubtedly an OP card. With magic and melee attacks, it wont matter if the enemy has armor or not. It also targets enemies with the lowest health because of Opportunity ability. Reflective damage will not matter because of Reflection Shield. These are the reasons why Olivia will be applicable to the following rulesets:
| Ruleset | Reason | |
|---|---|---|
| Back To Basics | ![]() | In this ruleset, all monsters lose their abilities. Olivia's magic and melee attacks are god-given gifts in this ruleset. Her decent health is also an advantage lasting her at least 3 rounds. |
| Even Stevens | ![]() | It's even mana is a great addition to Life's odd-rich roster. It can fight along Chaos Knight, Corsair Bosun, Pelacor Arbalest, Time Mage, Prismologist, Meriput Magician, and Anarchon Bolter. |
| Explosive Weaponry | ![]() | With Reflection Shield, Olivia can be placed second to the last in order to mitigate blast damage. |
| Are You Not Entertained? | This is where Mimic will shine the most. Olivia can 'mimic' the opponent's Bloodlust making her an unstoppable killing machine. | |
| Stampede | ![]() | In order for Olivia to shine in Stampede Ruleset, make sure it will copy the Trample ability. Since players tend to use Possibilus The Wise, the chances of Trample mimicry is higher. |
| Up Close & Personal | ![]() | With Olivia, you can sneak in a magic attack in this melee only ruleset. It might even surprise the enemy by replicating Demoralize, Double Strike, Retaliate or Flying which are the most common abilities used in this ruleset. |
| Noxious Fumes | ![]() | This might be difficult to do, but with Immunity copied and pasted to your Olivia, she can be a beast. |

The Intricacies of Mimic
At the beginning of round 2 and each following round, gain a random ability from the enemy team. 25% chance to gain a random ability from an attacker when hit. Dispel removes one mimicked ability in the order they were gained. Debilitations, Targeting abilities, Ambush, Weapons Training, Flank, Reach, Charge, and Taunt cannot be mimicked.
Ok, I might be analyzing Mimic too early since it hasn't been out yet. But it wont hurt to somehow understand how it works initially. This might go in our favor.
Olivia must be hit in order to mimic
This goes without saying, Olivia must take damage from the attacker in order to have a 25% chance of getting its ability. So, position her to the place where the attacker with the favorable ability can hit her. Avoid attacker's that don't have any abilities and can one-shot her (e.g. Piercing and Enraged monsters).
Dispel is Mimic's Worst Nightmare
Avoid opponents with Dispel as much as possible. Dispel will remove your mimicked ability hit after hit. We still don't know if it is 100% chance of removal or there is also some % chance.
She copies abilities randomly
If the attacker got multiple abilities, it might get the ability you didn't ask for. It might not even get the ability at all. It's just 25% chance after all.
Mimic might be nerfed in the near future
If Mimic would be overly OP, Olivia's stats might get nerfed. Or, Mimic's mechanics may change.

Closing
That's all for my early analysis of Olivia of the Brook. Hope this post helps you in any way or form. Goodluck with the new Soulbound Reward Carsd! Aja!
