Briar Patch rules dictate that all units will have the thorns ability, and any unit using a melee attack will receive damage back when attacking.

Battle Rules:

  • Mana Cap: 16
  • Available Elements: Fire, Life, and Death
  • Ruleset: Briar Patch

When this ruleset is in play, I avoid using monsters with melee attacks to prevent damage back to my units. The best strategy for me is to use Magic Attack Monsters. Although Earth Element would have been preferable, it's not allowed, so I opted for the Life Element.

My Line Up:

  • Summoner: Franz Ruffmane
    • Ability: Armor: +1 Armor to all Friendly Units
    • Conscript: Ability to Summon a Gladiator Card

Monsters:

  1. 1st Position: Venari Marksrat (Soulbound Card)

    • Attack: Range
    • Ability: Martyr
  2. 2nd Position: Captain Katie (Gladiator Card)

    • Attack: Magic
    • Ability: Snipe, Bloodlust

I chose Franz Ruffmane, a Soulbound Edition summoner, for this battle because I remembered having a magic attack card, a gladiator card. The way to summon it is to use a summoner with the conscript ability.

I placed Venari Marksrat in the first position to prevent Captain Katie, my Ace Card, from being immediately attacked. If Venari Marksrat loses, Captain Katie benefits from Marksrat's ability execution, boosting Katie's stats.

I also positioned Marksrat first to allow Captain Katie to use her Snipe ability in case the opponent has two units, and one of them is a magic or range attack card.

Opponent's Lineup:

  • Summoner
Avina of the Wolf: Can give healing ability to one unit or speed to two units
  • Monsters:
    1. Drybone Barbarian - A melee attack monster with enrage ability
    2. DaxParagon - Magic attack monster (no ability at its current level)

Battle Summary:

Round 1:

  • Dax attacked, hitting Marksrat. Captain Katie attacked Dax, eliminating it due to the Snipe ability. Drybone attacked, removing Marksrat's shield. Marksrat retaliated with thorns, damaging Drybone, but Drybone executed its enrage ability.

Round 2:

  • Katie attacked Drybone, and despite having 4 magic attack, Drybone survived due to its high health. Drybone healed and attacked Marksrat, eliminating it. However, the Briar Patch rule caused thorns damage to Drybone. Marksrat's Martyr ability executed, boosting Katie's stats.

Round 3:

  • With Katie's increased stats, she attacked first due to higher speed. Katie easily eliminated Drybone with her 5 magic attack.

Battle Result:

  • Jacejav - Winner

Thanks for sharing! - @mango-juice

nice match but using all level 1 cards for long in challenge posts may consider as post farming.
