First, some info on Defender of Truth:

The Defender of Truth is a powerful wizard of Khymeria, as well as an important political figure for the Order of the Silver Shield. When the Khymian warriors march to war, the Defender of Truth is their General. He inspires his troops with the divine protection of the Silver Shield.

Defender of Truth is a tanky magic attacker that can be utilized in Little League, with 1 Magic, 1 Armor, 3 Speed, and 3 Health, he has a pretty good distribution of stats, and at 4 Mana, he is cheap and relatively easy to add onto any team if need be. For Alpha/Beta specifically, he is also one of Life's only Magic Attackers!

At Level 2, he quickly ramps up, gaining +1 Magic and becomming a very threatening 2 Magic Attack Little League card early on, making him a powerful character to utilize, especially with Lorna Shine, who adds to his tankiness quite nicely.

At Level 3, he gains Protect, which essentially makes him Life's OG Venari Wavesmith, and a much more powerful, Little League one at that!

He costs about $59.99 per BCX in his Beta variant... His Alpha variant costs $230!

**LEVEL COSTS**
Level 2 costs $180 for Beta, and $690 for Alpha, this is where he gains **+1 Magic**
Level 3 costs $460 for Beta, and $920 for Alpha, this is where he gains **Protect**
Max Level costs $3174 for a Beta, and $7360 for a maxed Alpha Epic!

*Keep in mind that higher BCX Cards come with discounts, this is the math for purchasing 1 BCX Cards, which you should NOT do if you're planning to level.*

This is one of those few where the summoners are a no brainer for this guy, Defender of Truth does well with two Life Summoners the absolute best. At Level 1 and 2, Defender of Truth does best with a Lorna Shine in Low Mana or Little League, where Divine Shield allows him to become an even further tanky card that can be placed in Position 1 or 2 as a main or secondary tank, depending on the rulesets.

If you have a Level 3 though, it opens up an entirely new set of plays with a Level 2 Chanseus, where he will be able to Repair every unit, due to Defender of Truth's Protect, and his Recurrent and Triage add to the tankiness, allowing whoever is res'd to regain all of the Armor it has by default, along with Defender of Truth's armor on top of that!

What if you're feeling spicy though, and want to bounce off of a Dragon Summoner with this guy? You have some options:

There's only one Dragon for this bad boy: Delwyn Dragonscale, +1 Magic can transform him into a 3 Magic Attacker dealing massive damage in Little League and giving you a huge edge against other Life Teams, as well as even Water teams at certain mana levels!

While Kitty is always a good choice as a general dragon summoner, in regards to Defender of Truth specifically, Kitty's boosts, +2 Speed, True Strike, and Heal don't really benefit his kit, as he has a very small health pool, attacks with Magic, and as such, doesn't need speed or True Strike except in special cases, and in general just makes Kitty a poor choice for empowering Defender of Truth. That being said, in almost any 'normal' situation, Kitty is going to be the better option because of the presence of other monsters which benefit greatly from her buffs.

Any Position

In Low Mana, and Little League, this card has the tankiness to act as a primary or secondary tank to your team, especially with Lorna, allowing you to place him in Position 1 or 2, especially pre-level 3, where he lacks Protect, and is more of a chunky damage dealer.

In other situations, such as with Delwyn in Magic, it's best to place him further back, where he can capitalize on his 2 (+1) Magic damage and really cause a mess despite having a very small health pool in regards to other magic attackers.

Finally, at Level 3, especially with Chanseus, he is generally best to place in either the back or middle positions, where Triage can keep him healthy, and keep his Protect going for as long as possible, which keeps Chanseus' Repair going for as long as possible as well.

  1. Armored increases the defense capabilities of Defender of Truth, layered with his Magic Attack ignoring armor, and his Protect ability, this is generally a very good combo made even better by a Chanseus Summoner.
  2. Equalizer gives health to all of your characters, which can quickly make Defender of Truth a very threatening magic attack tank!
  3. Little League allows for Defender of Truth to shine as one of your strongest 4 Mana attackers, currently, only Light Elemental offers the same, or close to the same bang for your buck among Life Attackers at 4 Mana!
  4. Blast is always a lethal combination with Magic Attack, and Defender's Protect provides protection against Melee and Ranged blast attacks
  5. No Melee, especially in low mana, allows for Defender to act as your main tank, backed by healing and/or repair, Defender is one of the best low mana tanks for Life, when melee is not allowed, especially in Little League!
  6. Even Stevens, Defender of Truth is a perfect low mana attacker for your team!

  1. No Abilities leaves Defender of Truth with relatively mediocre stats at Level 3, but if you're using a Level 1 or Level 2, ignore this ruleset, as it does not negatively impact your card's effectiveness.
  2. Poison ruleset is lethal to Defender of Truth due to his low health and poison ignoring Armor and Divine Protection.
  3. No Armor kind of eliminates a good portion of Defender's tankiness in his 1 Armor, as well as ruins his Protect ability.
  4. Lost Magic prevents Defender's use altogether as a magic attacker.
  5. Odds ALSO prevents Defender's use
  6. Rise of the Commons prevents the use of Epics, eliminating Defender of Truth from being able to be played.

Equalizer, Knockout, 26 Mana, with Life, Death, and Earth Splinters

Here's a good example of Defender of Truth acting as a substantial tank when paired with healers and Equalizer. In this battle, my opponent's choice of Silvershield Paladin is what hurt him the most, as many of my melee/ranged attackers could still damage him, and I had a larger amount of magic damage. I also had a sneak attacker attacking a different target entirely.

With Protect, this would've been a much faster battle as well, however, even without Protect, Defender of Truth's presence as a 3 speed magic attacker really shows, along with the fast heal of Crystalsmith followed by the slow heal of Divine Healer.

My opponent's choices were actually a very solid team, and his is definitely the more balanced team, but I went in expecting to bypass either a Shieldbearer, Armor, or a chunky healing tank such as Haunted Spirit, as such, my team had the edge overall.
