Splinterlands Speculations: Stats Revealed for 2 Summoners and NEW Speculations!

Alright guys, it came as a surprise yesterday that we got new stat reveals from the big man Cryptomancer himself!!! Some of them are spicy. In this article, I'll be revising my Summoner speculations to adapt to the new information about these summoners, and I'll also be showcasing the new card abilities:

First thing's first, let's look at the Fire Summoner Tarsa

image.png

The first surprise, these are 4 Mana summoners with 1-2 Abilities, depending on how strong the ability is. In this case, Tarsa is a +1 Melee, +1 Speed summoner, making her a combination of Malric and Pyre. Sounds absolutely divine from a summoner standpoint and I WILL absolutely be running Tarsa a lot, quite likely as my main Fire summoner.

HOWEVER, I for one DON'T like this from another standpoint: It adds 0 variety or meta-shake up for Fire, and it hurts the value of nearly every Fire Summoner before it. Malric is 3 Mana, +1 Melee. Pyre is 3 Mana, +1 Speed. Plado Emberstorm is 5 Mana, +1 Melee, +1 Speed, -1 Health. That means, nearly all of the Fire Summoners are simply a slight rehash of eachother.

There are many who are voicing their dislike of this, including Mavericks, and many are suggesting that she be changed to -1 Armor +1 Speed, or +1 Health, +1 Melee, which would help undo some of the damage it causes to other summoners. We'll see how that goes. Personally, I'd love to see her give Enrage (which is mention later too, hint hint) as it'd be a different type of Melee/Speed boost than the other summoners, and require her monsters to be attacked before the summoner's buff actually takes effect. It'd also make Pyre and Malric more playable than her in Silence Summoner and in Enrage rulesets.

This means that Fire, yet again, is just fast melee. This is disappointing, because I was hoping for some sort of new Fire playstyle, rather than a simple, straight upgrade of previous Fire Summoners. As such, I think this summoner is the most likely to change.

Wanna see +1 Magic Obsidian? That's right, many of you have already noticed the massive Earth magic pump in the market. Here she is, at 4 mana, she's not as strong as Alric, but she provides Earth, a very strong magic splinter, arguably a better one than Water, with a +1 Magic summoner. This is going to tear through the meta, magically.

I love it, as the own of a Goblin Sorcerer, Djinn Biljka, a Level 3 Centauri Mage, and a Wood Nymph, I am already very happy to get my hands on this summoner ASAP!

Finally, let's take a look at the Chaos Legion cardbacks and a sneak peak at Hunter Jarx's current testnet stats:

As an Epic with 3 Range, 2 Speed, 6 Health, and Snipe for 6 Mana, he is Earth's new Mantoid, making Mantoid obsolete (for Earth specifically).

I am curious about what his new abilities will be, and stand by, hopefully, for a Close Range, or +1 Melee in his kit somewhere, as a Werewolf...

So, 4 Mana Summoners with potentially 2 Abilities means new Speculations

Why yes, yes it does. and so, without further ado, I am going to re-speculate on these 4 Mana summoners, going through Life, Water, and Death.

Water Summoner, Kelya Frendul

image.png

Knowing that this is a 4 Mana Summoner with potentially 2 Abilities, and knowing that +1 Melee is off the table.

You know what no, +1 Melee is never off the table! I think she's +1 Armor AND +1 Melee, this is THE Melee Water summoner and I am SO hype about it.

But, fine, I will pretend like only 1 summoner can have +1 Melee, and Tarsa has it, I will speculate on a non +1 Melee Summoner, and I will give a few options:

I think Kelya could be +1 Armor, +1 Health, for a heavy tank focused summoner who sort of functions similarly to Lorna Shine (+1 Health/Armor means you've got 1 more hit magic, and potentially 2 more for melee!). OR She could be an Enrage Summoner, which would be close enough but also vastly different from a normal +1 Melee. This would especially be strong on Serpent of Eld.

Death Summoner, Thaddeus Brood

Knowing that these can be stronger cards with 4 Mana, I now think that Thaddeus is one of two options, either a double debuffer of -1 HP and -1 Speed, or he will have a single ability: Leech, giving life steal to every unit. This... will be exciting regardless of the choices, as -1 HP, -1 Speed is a universal, powerful debuff that I would love to see on a Death summoner, and Leech is just, wonderful to think of having on a summoner as well. I suppose he could also have Amplify though. That being said, I think somebody else has that...

Life Summoner, General Sloan

That's right, at 4 Mana, I think, if we get a Rare Amplify summoner, this guy, General Sloan is it! If we don't end up seeing Amplify though, I could see him being a +2 HP or a +1 HP, -1 Armor Summoner.

With the new info, do you have a different idea on the Summoners here? Let me know in the comments!
