I almost missed the General Sale start!

Today I would like to tell you my little "horror" story about the General Sale start.

What an excitement that was! Countdown here, countdown there, transaction here, transaction there, to prepare everything for the General Sale days before. That was probably similar for most of you, wasn't it? And as I could already see on the blockchain, packs are already opened and reports are written about it ;-) Very nice, keep up the good work :-) I will certainly write one or the other about the packs as well as yield and satisfaction, but this post is about another incident.

For me, the start went almost wrong and I would like to tell you about it today.

Today is the day of days. Monday the 17.01.2021

Finally I had everything prepared, so I only had to wait for the starting signal for the sale. My thoughts turn exclusively only around Splinterlands. How will the start of the General Sale go? How many packs will be sold on the first day? Will the servers hold up? Hopefully I will have electricity then!!! Not that I would have a power outage today, which is not so impossible at the moment ;-) And what else could go wrong? Who knows?

Anyway, I still say in the morning to my wife:

Today nothing has to go wrong!!!

And potential what can go wrong there was on this Monday some where I could have spoiled the start in the evening. The day was packed with appointments, all of which are already condemned to take a little more time than planned.

Children who have converted our entire apartment into a single adventure playground and of course used this very loudly, are also added. Sometimes I feel as if I would live directly on the schoolyard, so loud it can be here sometimes ;-). Anyway, this is not good for the concentration I need later. Not that I would do something wrong when buying packs, just because there is so much shouting in the background ;-). Does not go at all!!! The children must be urgently occupied elsewhere in the evening, what my dear wife very happy to do and ensures peace. So the plan for the kids ;-)

Now only the appointments cleanly bring over the stage and then it can go.
OK, this time I had probably planned everything very well and fortunately at this point for once everything went well and the appointments have not made me a stroke of the bill! And that with the kids and my wife had also so far everything worked well, however she has bribed the children ;-)

So now it is 16:00 o'clock and it seems that everything is OK so far. I start to calm down and talk to myself constantly "This will be fine" But actually I'm mega nervous :-(

Suddenly my computer starts to go crazy

!!!Horror!!!

My desktop flickers and everything keeps freezing. Huh??? What is going on now???? Panic!!!! All right, then I'll just do a reboot. It is supposed to work wonders! But now nothing works at all. More panic!!! Such a mess!!! Of all times now!!!

I'm totally freaking out!!!

What's going on now???? And the sale is about to start... The panic continues to rise and anger joins also slowly. What do I do now just in a hurry?

At 16:30 clock was certain: My graphics card driver has somehow completely destroyed! In fact so destroyed that I could not even do what via the console (Ubuntu). I also had to absolutely fiddle with the driver, just before what ... Well, stupidly run, one can only say there! Now I have the salad!

I feel how my pulse is slowly going up, the pump is also getting faster and faster and the oxygen content in the room is rapidly decreasing. I start to sweat while I become more and more aware that I have no choice but to flatten the computer and make a new install again. Well, it's normally not such a big deal, but today? Now and here? ... Do I freak out??? I don't have time for that now!

I "just" want to buy my packs!!!

Remeber the topic?

"Today, nothing may go wrong!!!"

All right! I need a Solution! But quickly!!! I do not have time for such a shit now!!!!

Once again briefly to the reminder:
I actually wanted to be today at 17:00 clock already at the start for the Sale. For sure there would have been one or the other livestream for the general sale start, which I would have liked to watch! But Nooooooooo! It had to come then, nevertheless, everything differently. :-(

Back to my problem and how I finally managed to buy at least the packs in time. I actually managed to get my computer up and running again only yesterday. But now first one thing at a time :-)

Now it was already 17:00 o'clock and instead of that I am in some Livestream, I still run like a startled chicken through the apartment and scare of course all the others ( and they were so nice quiet!!! ). What is the fastest way to proceed now? I have a backup of the data, but it is not quite up to date, but would be sufficient in principle. At this point I would like to remind you how important backups are.

So never forget:

!!! Backup ... Backup ... Backup !!!

But I could also get the data from the harddisk. But this will take longer until I have copied the data to the harddisk and later back to the harddisk...

... And I have no time!!!

Then I remembered: I still have a laptop! And it's already set up with Keychain, because I had it with me on tour last year. I really wanted to play Splinterlands on the road, because I was away for a couple of days. The laptop is now not so the machine and it is actually not much in use.

But it had served its purpose last year. But then it also fell into oblivion again. But now the laptop was my possible salvation. So quickly pulled out the laptop and immediately checked whether so far everything is still in order. So far so good! Laptop runs! Keychain is also great and I finally start to get some air again. The pulse is slowly calming down and the pump is beating normal again. The General Sale can start. I can buy my packs and I can take care of my computer later.

But now the laptop (Windows) had to do a lot of updates and I couldn't get around it, because otherwise it wouldn't run at all. So, give rubber, laptop and make these shi.... Updates ready! My pulse is rising again!!! This time because of Windows!!! What a shi... system! And at the same time I'm glad that I have the laptop at all ;-) So, finally updates done, reboots done and keychain checked... Everything OK!!!

A look at the clock tells me: It's already 17:50!!! The General Sale is about to start and I am ready ( again ) to start. Even if I can only shop for now, because I would like to open the packs then but rather only on my big computer ( machine ) when it is back at the start. So on Tuesday then .;-)

Strangely enough, I still had a high pulse and I was still sweating... OK, that was more due to the sale of Splinterlands.;-) But in the bones I feel all the excitement of the last 2 hours still fierce.

18:00!!! The countdown is over and the Genaral Sale has started!!!! I shop my packs really fast. I had already done all the necessary transactions the days before and have the Credits ready for it. It took only about 15 minutes and then came the message that the transactions of the Credits can take hours. At least I so happy now at this point to know that I have done "almost" everything right in the preparations :-)

Only I make the next time the laptop as a possible spare computer before ready ;-)

The end of the song was then:
I had bought my packs about the laptop replacement solution at about 18:05 and my computer came to the workbench. There was still something to repair ;-) Even though I was not under time pressure anymore, I wanted to have my computer up and running again as soon as possible. The packs also wanted to be opened ;-) So I continued to power through.

The computer was then about 04:00 o'clock, the next morning also so far ready, so that he comes back to his workplace and I could finally fall into bed. Of course I had to set up and adjust everything a little bit over the days, but opening packs and leveling up was more important for now ;-) But I'd rather write something extra about that!

Now I have my computer clean and completely set up again and the packs open and also leveled up. Now I have fun playing again ;-) And the computer needed it, so that has something positive ;-)

This was my little "horror" story about the start of the General Sale of the Chaos Legion Packs!

What do we learn from this????

Always have a backup of your data and definitely your keys!

Fasst hätte ich den General Sale Start verpasst!

Ich möchte Euch heute meine kleine "Horrorgeschichte" zum General Sale Start erzählen.

Man war das vielleicht mal eine Aufregung! Countdown hier, Countdown da, Transaktion hier, Transaktion da ,um Tage vorher noch alles für den General Sale vorzubereiten. Das war wahrscheinlich bei den meisten von euch ähnlich, oder?

Und wie ich auch schon auf der Blockchain sehen konnte werden hier auch schon fleißig Packs ausgepackt und Berichte darüber geschrieben ;-) Sehr schön, macht weiter so :-) Ich werde bestimmt auch noch das eine oder andere zu den Packs sowie Ausbeute und Zufriedenheit schreiben ,aber in diesem Post soll es um einen anderen Zwischenfall gehen.

Bei mir ist der Start fasst schief gegangen und davon möchte ich euch Heute erzählen.

Heute ist der Tag der Tage. Montag der 17.01.2021

Endlich hatte ich soweit alles vorbereitet, so das ich nur noch auf den Startschuss für den Sale warten musste. Meine Gedanken drehen sich ausschließlich nur noch um Splinterlands. Wie wird der Start des General Sale laufen? Wie viele Packs werden wohl am ersten Tag verkauft? Werden die Server stand halten? Hoffentlich habe ich dann auch Strom!!! Nicht das ich ausgerechnet Heute einen Stromausfall haben würde, was ja derzeit nicht so ausgeschlossen ist ;-) .Und was sonst noch so alles schief gehen könnte? Wer weiss das schon?

Jedenfalls sage ich noch morgens zu meiner Frau:

Heute darf aber auch gar nichts Schief gehen!!!

Und Potenzial das was schief gehen kann gab es an diesem Montag einiges wo mir den Start Abends hätte vermiesen können. Der Tag war voll geknallt mit Termine, die alle samt schon von Haus aus dazu verdonnert sind immer etwas mehr Zeit in Anspruch zu nehmen als man geplant hat.

Kinder die unsere ganze Wohnung zu einem einzigen Abenteuerspielplatz umgebaut haben und natürlich diesen auch sehr lautstark benutzten, kommen da auch noch dazu. Ich komme mir hier hin und wieder vor als würde ich direkt auf dem Schulhof wohnen, so laut kann es hier manchmal werden ;-). Jedenfalls ist das nicht gut für die Konzentration die ich dann später brauche. Nicht das ich dann beim Packs einkaufen irgendwie was falsch machen würde ,nur weil hier so ein Geschrei im Hintergrund ist ;-). Geht gar nicht!!! Die Kinder müssen also heute Abend dringen anderweitig beschäftigt werden ,was meine liebe Frau sehr gerne übernimmt und für Ruhe sorgt. So der Plan für die Kids ;-)

Jetzt nur noch die Termine sauber über die Bühne bringen und dann kann es los gehen.
OK, dieses mal hatte ich wohl alles sehr gut geplant und zum Glück ist an dieser Stelle ausnahmsweise mal alles gut gegangen und die Termine haben mir keinen Strich durch die Rechnung gemacht! Und das mit den Kids und meiner Frau hatte auch soweit alles gut funktioniert, wie auch immer sie die Kinder bestochen hat ;-)

So nun ist es jetzt 16:00 Uhr und es scheint so als wäre alles soweit OK. Ich fange an mich zu beruhigen und Rede mir ständig zu „Das wird schon“ Aber tatsächlich bin ich mega nervös :-(

Plötzlich fängt mein Rechner an zu spinnen.

!!!Horror!!!

Mein Desktop flackert und alles friert immer wieder ein. Hä??? Was ist den jetzt los???? Panik!!!! Also gut, dann mache ich halt mal einen Neustart. Soll ja so manches Wunder bewirken! Doch jetzt geht auf ein mal gar nichts mehr. Noch mehr Panik!!! So ein Dreck!!! Ausgerechnet jetzt!!! Ich flippe ja total aus!!! Was ist da jetzt denn plötzlich los???? Und der Sale beginnt bald… Die Panik steigt weiter an und Wut gesellt sich so langsam auch noch dazu. Was mache ich den jetzt bloß auf die Schnelle?

Um 16:30 Uhr stand fest: Mein Grafikkartentreiber hat es irgendwie komplett zerlegt! Und zwar so zerlegt das ich nicht einmal mehr über die Konsole ( Ubuntu ) was machen konnte. Ich musste ja auch noch unbedingt an dem Treiber, kurz vorher was rumfummeln… Tja, dumm gelaufen, kann man da nur sagen! Jetzt hab ich den Salat!

Ich spüre wie mir langsam der Puls geht, die Pumpe wird auch schon immer schneller und der Sauerstoffgehalt im Raum nimmt rapide ab. Ich fange an zu schwitzen ,während mir immer bewusster wird, das ich keine andere Wahl habe, als den Rechner platt zu machen und neu hoch zu ziehen. Gut, ist jetzt normalerweise kein so ein großes Ding, doch Heute? Jetzt und hier?? … Flippe ich aus???Ich hab doch jetzt keine Zeit für so was!

Ich will doch „nur“ meine Packs kaufen!!!

So viel zum Thema:

Also gut! Lösung muss her!! Aber schnell!! Ich habe doch jetzt keine Zeit für so ein Schei…!!!

Noch einmal kurz zur Erinnerung.
Ich wollte eigentlich heute um 17:00 Uhr schon am Start für den Sale sein. Mit Sicherheit hätte es noch den einen oder den anderen Livestream zum General Sale Start gegeben ,den ich mir dann noch gerne angeschaut hätte! Aber Neeeeeeiiiiinnnnn! Es musste ja dann doch alles anders kommen :-(
Als hätte ich es irgendwie geahnt oder aber auch, vielleicht so gar manifestiert. Wer Weiß?

Zurück zu meinen Problem und wie ich es letztendlich doch noch rechtzeitig geschafft habe, zumindest die Packs zu kaufen. Meinen Rechner habe ich tatsächlich erst gestern wieder vollständig an den Start gebracht. Aber jetzt erst einmal eins nach dem anderen :-)

Jetzt war es schon 17:00 Uhr und anstatt das ich in irgendeinem Livestream drin bin, laufe ich immer noch wie ein aufgescheuchtes Huhn durch die Wohnung und scheuche dabei natürlich alle anderen auf ( und die waren so schön ruhig!!! ). Wie gehe ich jetzt am schnellsten vor? Ein Backup der Daten habe ich ,ist aber nicht ganz aktuell würde aber schon grundsätzlich ausreichen.
An dieser Stelle möchte ich auch noch einmal daran erinnern wie wichtig Backups sind.

Also vergesst nie:

Ich könnte aber auch noch an die Daten der Festplatte kommen. Das dauert aber wiederum länger bis ich die Daten hin und später dann wieder her kopiert habe…

… Und ich hab doch keine Zeit!!!

Dann fiel mir ein: Ich hab doch noch einen Laptop! Und der ist sogar schon mit Keychain eingerichtet, weil ich den letztes Jahr mal mit auf Tour hatte. Ich wollte damals unbedingt Splinterlands auch von unterwegs aus spielen, da ich ein Paar Tage weg war. Der Laptop ist jetzt nicht so die Maschine und ist bei mir sonst so eigentlich auch nicht viel im Einsatz. Aber seinen Zweck hatte er letztes Jahr erfüllt. Ist aber dann auch wieder in die Versunkenheit geraten. Jetzt war aber der Laptop meine mögliche Rettung. Also schnell den Laptop ausgekramt und gleich mal gecheckt ob soweit noch alles in Ordnung ist. Soweit so gut! Laptop läuft! Keychain ist auch alles super und ich fange endlich wieder an einigermaßen Luft zu bekommen. Der Puls beruhigt sich so langsam auch wieder und die Pumpe schlägt auch wieder einigermaßen normal. Der General Sale kann starten. Ich kann meine Packs kaufen und um meinen Rechner kann ich mich später noch kümmern.

Nun musste aber der Laptop ( Windows ) erst ein mal zig Updates machen und ich kam auch irgendwie nicht drum herum, da die Kiste sonst überhaupt nicht läuft. Also, gib Gummi, Laptop und mach diese Schei…. Updates fertig! Mein Puls steigt schon wieder!!! Dieses mal wegen Windows!!! Was für ein Schei… System! Und zugleich bin ich aber auch froh das ich den Laptop gerade überhaupt habe ;-) So, endlich Updates fertig, Neustarts gemacht und Keychain gecheckt… Alles OK!!!

Ein Blick auf die Uhr sagt mir: Es ist schon 17:50 Uhr!!! Der General Sale beginnt gleich und ich bin soweit ( wieder ) am Start. Auch wenn ich erst einmal nur einkaufen kann, weil ich die Packs dann doch lieber erst an meinem großen Rechner ( Maschine ) aufmachen möchte, wenn der wieder am Start ist. Also am Dienstag dann ;-)

Komischerweise hatte ich immer noch einen hohen Puls und geschwitzt habe ich auch immer noch… OK, das lag dann doch eher an dem Sale von Splinterlands ;-)
Aber in den Knochen spüre ich die ganze Aufregung der letzten 2 Stunden immer noch heftig.

18:00 Uhr!!! Der Countdown ist zu Ende und der Genaral Sale hat begonnen!!! Ich kaufe ganz schnell meine Packs ein und war dann auch sehr schnell damit fertig. Ich hatte ja die Tage vorher schon alle nötigen Transaktionen gemacht und hatte somit auch schon die Credits dafür parat. Es dauerte gefühlt nur knapp 15 Minuten und dann kam die Meldung, das die Transaktionen der Credits , Stunden dauern können. Wenigstens war ich jetzt an dieser Stelle etwas erleichterter zu Wissen das ich immerhin bei den Vorbereitungen „fast“ alles richtig gemacht habe :-)

Nur mache ich das nächste mal den Laptop als eventuellen Ersatzrechner schon vorher startklar ;-)

Das Ende vom Lied ist dann gewesen:
Ich hatte um ca. 18:05 Uhr meine Packs über die Laptop Ersatz-Lösung gekauft und mein Rechner kam auf die Werkbank. Da war ja auch noch was zu reparieren ;-) Auch wenn das jetzt nicht mehr so unter Zeitdruck stand, wollte ich ja schließlich meinen Rechner auch wieder so schnell wie möglich am Start haben. Die Packs wollten ja auch noch aufgemacht werden.;-) Also weiter durch powern.

Der Rechner war dann so um ca. 04:00 Uhr ,am nächsten Morgen auch soweit fertig, so dass er wieder an seinen Arbeitsplatz zurück und ich endlich ins Bett fallen konnte. Klar musste ich dann noch über die Tage nach und nach alles wieder ein wenig einrichten und anpassen aber Packs auf machen und hoch Leveln war dann doch erst einmal wichtiger ;-)
Dazu schreibe ich dann aber lieber noch einmal Extra was!

Jetzt habe ich meinen Rechner wieder sauber und komplett eingerichtet und die Packs geöffnet sowie auch hoch gelevelt. Jetzt macht mir das spielen auch wieder Spaß ;-) Und der Rechner hatte es auch mal wieder nötig, insofern hat das auch etwas positives ;-)

Dies war meine kleine Horrorgeschichte zu dem Start vom General Sale der Chaos Legion Packs!
