The Double Martyr Strategy

Hello again Splinterfam!

It's me again sharing a strategy this time. Remember how I shared a very angry Grund photo with 9 melee damage and 8 speed at level 3?

The latest reward cards have stirred the Splinterlands with all the new abilities they come with. It's crazy how we may now encounter attacking Baakjiras and Chaos Agents in the battle field, right? This added a whole bunch of new combos we can use that I think prevents the game from being dull.

In this blog, I will be featuring a new ability introduced in the Soulbound cards called martyr and how I might say I abused it by using 2 monsters with that ability that led to a Super Enraged Killer Grund.

What is the Martyr ability?

When a monster with the Martyr ability dies in a battle, it gives adjacent characters +1 to all stats. That includes attack (if any), speed and health.

The Battlefield

Ruleset:
• 37 Mana Cap
• What Doesn't Kill You
• Target Practice
• Available Splinters: Fire & Earth

Prediction

Since we are only dealing with 2 splinters, fire and earth, the next thing I thought of was the Target Practice. Magicians would be better snipers than marksmen. And also with all monsters having the Enrage ability, it would be smarter using magic to avoid missing the attacks. With that said, I have predicted that my adversary would use Obsidian as their summoner.

Lucky for me, I was able to pick up Immortalis at a very sweet price and can use him anytime, especially in this particular battle. Now all my monsters have the Void and Shatter abilities.

The Strategy

I initially thought of using just the Venari Marksrat and placing it in between Grund and Regal Peryton to add buff to these monsters. That was my plan until I saw Fungus Flinger. I had to consider the speed and so Grund would still be able to attack on the first round when Marksrat dies in front so that's what I did. I had sacrificed 2 cards especially for Grund to be the tankiest tank he could be.

The Battle

Round 1

I would like to highlight this part where Grund already was at 9 attack and 8 speed and was about to take down Venari Knifer with its second hit on the first round.

Round 2

At the end of the second round, I'm only left with 2 monsters since Grund still missed an attack aimed at Regal Peryton. Damage went back to 6 since HP was healed by Goblin Psychic as is now back to 13. 2v4 but looking pretty solid for my team.

Round 3

image.png
At the beginning of the third round, Grund took an attack from *Regal Peryton *and it was at this moment that I knew that the other team was not gonna make it.

And by the end of the third round, they were wiped out. Plan worked out for us! That's the Double Martyr Strategy.

That's all for now, see you on my next blog!

Maybe I'll do an introduction. LOL
