Splinterlands: Another Day of Gold Chests and My Thoughts on Sorriel The Bale

Wow it was a tough day in the gold league! I had a fire focus which is not my favorite by far and ended up with just nine gold rewards chests, much lower than usual. Without further ado, I pulled in a few merits, very little SPS, some more Coastal Sentry and Ferox Defender but neither leveled me up. However I got Lobb Lowland as a single copy pushing me up to a whole level two! Now we're almost cooking! The best pull was Octavia Shadowmeld gold foil edition. While very cool it was only one copy and I already have a level three regular copy. Nonetheless I am happy with it overall. Normally I like to discuss one of today's pulls, but since none are particularly new I thought I could discuss a pull from yesterday: Sorriel The Bale!

Sorriel The Bale is a fire legendary card who has some serious potential. This is a very high mana card at nine so he may be hard to use in anything but a high mana situations. He is a magic card with two magic and very lousy speed of two but he hits twice per turn from level one which is a great ability. My pull yesterday got me up to a level two copy where he picks up the blind ability so it decreases your opponent's team probability to land strikes with melee and ranged attacks. At level three he gains the rust ability reducing your opponent's armor on their team by one. Then at level four his magic attack increase to three resulting is six damage per turn.

Having a magic attack on a fire team can be very unexpected and really throw off your opponent. Adding a Djinn Inferni to Sorriel can really cause some havoc. Overall this is a great legendary card that really can make a difference in a match especially at higher levels. The huge drawback is the high mana cost like most legendary cards have. I'm looking forward to using it in my fire lineups over the next few days and see how it goes. I really want to get him to level three to play better at gold/diamond where I usually play. With any luck the Splinterlands algorithms will be kind and give me more copies soon!

Like I mention daily my goal is to get my soul bound team strong enough to play at gold/ diamond without having to rely on rentals. This will be a very long term strategy as there is never a guarantee on what you will pull and it's very random.
