Update Summary:

Splinterlands is bringing some exciting updates to the game, including a revamped energy collection rate system, a new promotional card sale, and the release of a closed beta for their upcoming tower defense game, Soulkeep. But that's not all, Land update has some major changes in store for players who are ready to stake their claim on the vast Praetoria lands.

Firstly, let's talk about the energy collection rate system. This new model is simpler and more user-friendly, with accounts now having a limit of 50 energy that regenerates at a rate of 1 energy per hour. Playing in Novice league no longer costs energy, and each ranked battle above Novice league now costs 1 energy. Players can purchase up to 50 additional energy per day at a rate determined by the highest league they are earning rewards for.

In addition to the energy system update, there is a new promotional card sale featuring the common rarity Dragon card, Vruz. To purchase this card, players must have at least 1,000 SPS staked, and they can buy one card per 1,000 SPS actively staked during the maintenance period.

But the biggest news is the release of the closed beta for Soulkeep, Splinterlands' upcoming tower defense game. Players who have purchased 500 or more Nightmare packs can access the initial testing levels. This game promises to be a unique addition to the Splinterlands universe, offering a new type of gameplay for fans of the franchise.

Now, let's dive into the Land update. The update brings major changes to the Praetoria land, which consists of 150 distinct player-owned land regions, each with 1,000 land plots. These plots are organized into 10 different tracts within each region and grouped into seven different territories, each containing between 20 and 22 regions.

Phase 1.5 is the MVP for this update, with more planned for phase 2. The overall objective of the land is to introduce new types of cards, including items and spell cards that players can craft. The previous cards will help mint the new cards, creating a real-world economy for players. The secret of Praetoria is an overarching theme for the expansion, with a land rush for mining and harvesting that will involve clues. Players can put resources toward solving the clues, which will lead to instructions to build something. Once constructed, it will reveal the secret, and everyone who contributes will benefit proportionally to how much they contributed.

The update includes adjustments to the map, making the regions within the territories more even, with minor redrawing of territory lines. There are 14 different terrain types and seven different elements, with two terrain types per element. Land plots will have castles or keeps, and players can choose up to three starter packages, including Building in a Box, Time Vault, and Unstable Totems. Staking cards have a three-day cooldown time and cannot be used in battles if they are being used on land, creating a massive new use case for cards.

Power sources are needed for cards to physically manifest and work on land, and players need to stake DEC to access them. Production level is proportional to how much you stake, benefiting everyone in the ecosystem. Production points indicate how productive each of the cards are, with cards serving as workers on land that are producing things, all governed by the amount of production points. The terrain preferences offer a base production bonus, with land rarity, magical and occupied land, Runi, titles, and totems offering production boosts.

All in all, the Land update brings major changes to the Splinterlands universe, with a focus on expanding the real-world economy for players. With the addition of the Soulkeep tower defense game and the Vruz promotional

By staking my Sps in the game, I was able to receive 3 Vruz promo cards as an airdrop reward. Since I only had 3000 Sps staked, I was eligible to receive a total of 3 promo cards. To obtain these cards, I had to use 3 vouchers. The conversion rate for receiving 1 Vruz promo card is 1000 Sps staked, so I consider myself fortunate to have earned these Sps through the game.
