Brawl Report #31

Splinterland Brawls are a guild event where you can earn merits and SPS. This post serves as a way for me to review how my fights went and as a reminder to sign up for the next brawl. I have missed brawls in the past and it hurts when Gladius cards can now be used in ranked battles using the soulbound summoners.

I chose the gold foil modern brawl and got 3 wins. My rewards for the brawl were 3,250 merits and 20.121 SPS in the 2 star category. My guild ranked 1st place out of the 10 guilds there. I choose to take the gold foil modern brawl because my guild usually doesn't fill all their spots and I prefer to give my other guild members a chance at the brawls. It looks like we will be doing mostly 2 star rounds with the occasional 3 star brawl every few rounds.

Brawl fights

There were 2 fights that I won and 1 that I won due to surrender. So I included an idea of what the match was below along with a few thoughts about it.

image.png
You can find the first match here. I won this match but I was a bit worried at the start. The return fire looks like it could be annoying but I only had 1 ranged monster. However, I had demoralize to decrease the melee attack, repair and tank heal to support my monsters. This allowed my tank to survive all the hits and eventually, the bloodlust also helped me do way more damage and win the match. All the support abilities allowed me to outlast my opponent when my tank had the shield ability.

You can find the second match here. I won this match due to the use of support abilities and my own lineup. I had Dumacke Orc at the last spot to tank those sneak and opportunity attackers and this proved to be the correct choice because of the shield ability. At the same time, I had protect to increase my armor and inspire to increase my own damage. With the use of two opportunity monsters, I was able to take out my opponent's card faster than he could mine. In a way, it looks like my opponent did not have enough attacks. It felt like he was just filling cards to fill the stage.

Conclusion

I think doing 3 fights for 3,250 merits and 20.121 SPS is a pretty good reward for the effort. I won all the matches I submitted and this was the same as last time. So I hope this streak of winning my matches continue. At the same time, my guild got 1st place by far. Brawls are a great way of earning SPS and merit for the number of battles you participate in. So I think it is worthwhile for people to participate in these brawls. My current brawls are in the two star category.

3 fights for over 20 SPS is good as gold. Sometimes it feels oddly satisfying to win by surrender, but sometimes I just hate it, especially because I want to feel the competitive nature of brawling

Yea, but I don't mind the surrenders as much. A win is a win for the guild.
