Brawl Report #32

Splinterland Brawls are a guild event where you can earn merits and SPS. This post serves as a way for me to review how my fights went and as a reminder to sign up for the next brawl. I have missed brawls in the past and it hurts when Gladius cards can now be used in ranked battles using the soulbound summoners.

Brawl Result

I chose the gold foil modern brawl and got 3 wins and 2 losses. My rewards for the brawl were 3,563 merits and 18.931 SPS in the 2 star category. My guild ranked 1st place out of the 10 guilds there. I choose to take the gold foil modern brawl because my guild usually doesn't fill all their spots and I prefer to give my other guild members a chance at the brawls. It looks like we will be doing mostly 2 star rounds with the occasional 3 star brawl every few rounds.

Brawl fights

There were 2 fights that I won, 2 that I lost and 1 that I won due to surrender. So I included an idea of what the match was below along with a few thoughts about it.

You can find the first match here. I won this match and it wasn't that bad because I had a good close-range monster as my tank. I would have preferred using General Sloan but I don't have a gold foil version of that card. I had more cards and I was able to out damage my opponent.

You can find the second match here. I lost this match and I couldn't do much against all the magic monsters as well as that Taunt and tank heal monster. My opponent was able to finish me off due to all that magic damage.

You can find the third match here. I lost this match and I really hate the wands out ruleset. I just don't have enough gold foil cards and I got demolished by my opponent due to my lack of cards.

You can find the fourth match here. I won this match due to my use of monsters that could not attack from the back. You can use magic or melee cards in this match but they all get hurt by counter damage (thorns and magic reflect) so I decided to just try to outlast my opponent. It worked out and I was able to outlast my opponent due to that.

Conclusion

I think doing 5 fights for 3,563 merits and 18.931 SPS is a pretty good reward for the effort. I lost my all win streak but I still won over half of my matches. So I am happy with how I did in the brawl. At the same time, my guild got 1st place by far. Brawls are a great way of earning SPS and merit for the number of battles you participate in. So I think it is worthwhile for people to participate in these brawls. My current brawls are in the two star category.
