Brawl Report #62 - Just a little short of winning half of my matches

Splinterland Brawls are a guild event where you can earn merits and SPS. This post serves as a way for me to review how my fights went and as a reminder to sign up for the next brawl. I have missed brawls in the past and it hurts when Gladius cards can now be used in ranked battles using the soulbound summoners. Rebellion has also changed the battles and I just keep losing my fights recently. While I did not win at least half of my matches, I did come close to that though as I was only off by 1 win.

I chose the gold foil modern brawl and got 3 wins. My rewards for the brawl were 3,714 merits and 79.717 SPS in the 4 star category. My guild ranked 5th place out of the 10 guilds there. I choose to take the gold foil modern brawl because my guild usually doesn't fill all their spots and I prefer to give my other guild members a chance at the brawls. We ranked slightly higher compared to last week and the rewards are about the same.

Brawl fights

There were 3 fights that I won and 4 that I lost. So I included an idea of what the match was below along with a few thoughts about it.

image.png
You can find the first match here. I won this match and the choice to use a amplify to increase the damage from the thorns given by the rule set. Also, my bloodlust monster got quite a few kills along with the martyr gave it enough strength to kill off my opponent.

image.png
You can find the second match here. I lost this match and I couldn't really do much against the speed difference. My opponent just had more damage and that weapons training ability only added to his damage.

image.png
You can find the third match here. I won this match because I had more monsters than my opponent and I made use of the close range ability. I just got lucky and didn't miss any attacks so that backfire didn't damage me at all.

image.png
You can find the fourth match here. I won this match because I used cleanse to remove the poison. Xenith monk was my backup with martyr but it never got around to that.

image.png
You can find the fifth match here. I lost this match and my opponent just outplayed me. That Gobson is hard to beat and I just couldn't do much after it stacked up bloodlust.

image.png
You can find the sixth match here. I lost this match and my opponent outplayed me. The amplify ability with thorns was too much for me and I didn't have much available to me after my melee monsters went down.

image.png
You can find the seventh match here. I lost this match and my opponent had a level advantage. On top of that, my opponent had more monsters than me and that ruleset adding in scattershot just hurts. I lost my ranged monsters quite early.

Conclusion

I think doing 6 fights for 3,714 merits and 79.717 SPS is a pretty good reward for the effort. I didn't exactly get the half wins that I wanted but it was close to that. I am a bit surprised because I was expecting to lose more. My guild also ranked slightly higher so my rewards were a bit higher this time around. 4 star brawls are quite rough.

3 wins means you are getting better, and you don't need to despair. Just keep trying to find out each reason for every lost battle and learn from it. Thanks for sharing this gaming experience and have a great day.

You did your best to compete this time. When the Katrelba is after your backline, it's almost inevitable that you'll lose. When I see katrelba at the katrelba one's chances of winning reduces.

I’m glad you still had to do well even though you were expecting more losses
