Drybone Barbarian: A ruthless monster against melee monsters

Splinterlands is a complex game and it allows for various different cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various different rulesets applied and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a card named Drybone Barbarian.

Featured Monster: Drybone Barbarian

Spirit Hoarder is a life splinter card that costs 9 mana. It starts with enrage, learns retaliate at level 5 and knock out at level 10. This is a tanky monster and it can be quite deadly when it is enraged. Any physical monsters attacking it has to be wary of counterattacks.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

rule set.png

The ruleset this time is noxious fumes and fire & regret. This means that all monsters start off poisoned and any ranged attacks will get counterdamaged. There is also 33 mana available and I am left with the choice of fire, earth or life splinter.

summoner.png
The summoner I choose to use this time is Mother Khala. In a match like this with poison, I like the +1 health because it means that a card is more likely to survive an extra turn and help me out more in this match. It also allows me to play cards to their highest ability.

Total Mana:33

My plan is just to have Drybone Barbarian up front and let it deal massive damage when it's enraged. At the same time, it can retaliate against the opponents. I have an immunity monster in case I need to outlast my opponent and if he has no way to cleanse. There is a cleanse monster to remove poison on my Drybone Barbarian and Iziar is there to taunt and take the hits from my opponent. This lets my Drybone Barbarian deal the most damage that it can.

Round 1

round 1.png
At the first glance of my opponent's lineup, I think I have the stronger lineup due my support abilities. I have a higher level summoner and I have a bunch of different abilities to help me. The only worry is the double attacking ranged monster that my opponent has.

Round 2

round 2.png
Poison hasn't taken into effect but it will kill off quite a few cards on both sides when it does. Considering the speed difference, I just hope that I get one retaliate in so I can kill off that Grund this turn.

conclusion.png
I wasn't expecting that Drybone Barbarian to retaliate 3 times (all 3 times it was hit). With it dealing 8 damage per hit, it was able to attack 4 times in this round and this allowed me to kill off all of my opponent's lineup.

Conclusion

The battle this time around went exactly as I expected. The lineup I went for had increased my damage and the support abilities definitely helped. The taunt monster did wonders as it attracted the attacks and my enraged Drybone Barbarian wiped out my opponent.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

I have leveled up my Drybone to lvl 6, which has +1 on speed compared to your... It was almost an ideal choice for the battle that you showed... If the magic attack was forbidden, it would be a perfect match!
Being a common card and getting it for free, Drybone is a great choice!

I have picked this post on behalf of the @OurPick project which will be highlighted in the next post!

Damn it that was some ruthless reaction from Drybone, Enrage with Retaliation is proving to be deadly. I will bear that in mind lol.

Yea, it's pretty deadly against melee monsters. It kind of reminds me of how deadly Magnor was but slightly weaker without trample.
