Splinterlands: Asel Alagosdil is a great water splinter tank
Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used Barthalamas.
Featured cards

Asel Alagosdil is a water splinter that costs 4 mana. This splinter starts with the divine shield ability. It doesn't learn any skills, but leveling it does increase its armor and health. I use this card quite often in Frontier due to its low mana cost and how well it works as a tank.
Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The rulesets this time are Unprotected and Equal Opportunity. This means that all monsters start off with the opportunity ability, and there is no armor in this fight. There is also 27 mana available, and I can use any splinter except for fire and death.
This fight is interesting, there isn't that much mana available, and the opportunity makes it so that you can't use low health monsters as much.
| Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| Marlai Singariel | 6 | Summoner | +1 Magic |
| Asel Alagosdil | 4 | 1st | Divine Shield |
| Saltwater Mage | 8 | 2nd | Sneak |
| Mystic Scaleweaver | 9 | 3rd | Slow |
| Total Mana: | 27 |
My summoner is Marlai Singariel for the +1 magic. My tank is sel Alagosdil. My backup tank is Saltwater Mage with sneak, and Mystic Scaleweaver is my last monster with slow.
The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while the rest of my lineup deals damage. Asel Alagosdil has the lowest health in this lineup, so it works out well. The slow will reduce my opponent's speed, and I have high damaging magic monsters to kill off monsters.
Round 1

At first glance, I think that I have the advantage in this match. My monsters will focus down the backline while my opponent focuses on my Asel Alagosdil. My opponent doesn't have enough damage to kill it on the turn, and my opponent is not very fast either, as I move first. This guarantees me 12 damage before Asel Alagosdil dies.
Round 3

My opponent is down to 1 monster, and I haven't lost any yet. I have more damage than my opponent can heal so this is my win.

I won that match a few rounds later
Conclusion
The battle this time went exactly as planned. Asel Alagosdil did a great job of attracting all the damage while the rest of my magic monsters did damage. I also slowed down my opponent so I was always moving first in terms of damage.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

I often use this one with water, the extra hit with shield is useful
Saltwater mage and Mystic Scaleweaver were just doing the damage.I actually have Asel Alasgodil but still in level one, would check it out with this ability it just displayed. Kudos, the collection and combination was spot on 👍.
