Splinterlands: Asel Alagosdil is the best water tank in Frontier

Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used Asel Alagosdil.

Asel Alagosdil is a water splinter that costs 4 mana. This splinter starts with the divine shield ability. It doesn't learn any skills, but leveling it does increase its armor and health. I use this card quite often in Frontier due to its low mana cost and how well it works as a tank.

Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

rule set.png

The rulesets this time are Standard. This means that there are no effects on the battle. There is also 25 mana available, and I can use any splinter except for earth, life, and death.

This ruleset is interesting because it's rare to see a standard battle. It all comes down to how well you can set up your own lineup.

SplinterMana CostPositionReason
Marlai Singariel6Summoner+1 Magic
Asel Alagosdil41stDivine Shield
Water-Logged Wizard62nd
Mystic Scaleweaver93rdSlow
Total Mana:25

My summoner is Marlai Singariel for the +1 magic. My tank is Asel Alagosdil. My backup tank is Water-Logged Wizard and Mystic Scaleweaver is my last monster with slow.

The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while dealing damage and outlasting my opponent. Asel Alagosdil will deal with the monsters attacking the front while Mystic Scaleweaver is in the last spot to deal with sneak monsters. My monsters will focus down the enemy using their magic damage to help me win this match.

Round 1

round 1.png
At first glance, I think that this match is mine to win. My opponent has to go through Asel before it can damage my magic monsters. So I will be killing my opponent faster than he can kill mine.

Round 3

round 3.png
A few rounds later, my tank is dead, but my opponent is down to just 1. However, this is my win. My magic monsters won't miss, and my opponent can't kill me fast enough.

I won that match later that round.

Conclusion

The battle this time went exactly as planned. Asel did a great job of tanking the hits and allowing my magic monsters to deal damage. Asel is a card that I use quite often in Frontier because magic can be very powerful.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

It matches well with water because of its low mana stats so it gives you more room to focus on the magic damage dealers.

The strategy is quite similar by using magic damage cards and the difference on the team composition dictates the match
