Splinterlands: Barthalamas is great in Explosive Weaponry

Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used Barthalamas.

Featured cards

Barthalamas is a fire archon that costs 6 mana. This archon is a frontier card, and it gives +1 speed to all monsters on your side. Leveling this card only increases the level of cards you can use in the fight.

Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The rulesets this time are Going the Distance and Explosive Weaponry. This means that all monsters start off with the blast ability, and only ranged monsters can be used. There is also 37 mana available, and I can use any splinter except for earth.

This fight is interesting because we are limited to ranged monsters, and every monster has blast. So in a way, you need to deal enough damage to win the match.

My summoner is Barthalamas for the +1 speed. My tank is Agniavan Salamander. My backup tank is Ash Archer. Then I have A'lan Musketeer with double strike. I have Sturdy Axe Warden in my last spot.

The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while the rest of my lineup deals damage. Agniavan Salamander is up front because it is tanky. A'lan Musketeer is nice because the double strike helps deal more damage, and the rest of the ranged monsters are just damage dealers.

Round 1

round 1.png
At first glance, I think that this match could go either way. I am faster than my opponent, but my opponent has a level advantage and armor. So this match could still change if I miss a few attacks.

Round 3

round 3.png
My opponent is down to 1 monster, and I barely had my A'lan survive. My opponent can't attack anymore, so I have this match won.

I won that match later that round.

Conclusion

The battle this time went exactly as planned. I made my lineup in a way that allowed me to outlast my opponent. The speed advantage let my monsters attack first, and that gave me the slight advantage to win this match. Speed is just so nice in the explosive weaponry fights.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

The speed is always nice when there is explosive weaponry.
