Splinterlands Fifth Season Rewards of 2024, Gladius Packs and SPS

The Splinterlands season ended earlier this week so I want to review my rewards and check up on some things in the game. The gameplay has changed a lot and I am nowhere close to gold rank anymore after they removed the level cap. I lost way more than I would like and at this point I wonder if wild is better for me. Either way, I will stick with modern for another season or two to see if it works out and if it doesn't, I'll make a change.

Season Rewards

Compared to last season, my rewards was better than last season even if I got less than half the chests compared to last time. There were no chaos legion packs again this time but I did get 2 legendary cards this time around. It's been quite a while since the last time I got one and it was enough to level it up to level 2. It's too bad that there weren't any gold foil cards this time though. I am a bit surprised to see SPS around the same but my potions and merits definitely took a decent hit.

Gladius Packs

I was able to collect 3 packs since the last time I opened packs. My guild hasn't been doing that great in brawl and my win rate there hasn't been that great lately either. So my merits have dropped a bit even if I didn't miss any brawls last season.

I was able to upgrade Marisol Contuma to level 3. It only gains 1 health from this. Unfortunately, this card isn't the greatest because of the high mana cost. However, it does have bloodlust and reach. However, if I can get it another level, then it will learn inspire which can increase my melee damage.

SPS

My SPS rewards were lower and I kind of expected it due to my low win rate. It hasn't made me that motivated and I am not seeing very good SPS drops from the lower ranks of Silver. I know that Gold league or Silver cap near gold tends to drop decent SPS. However, with the new ranked battle changes, I have been struggling.

My pool reward for the season is 162.206 SPS. I plan on staking all of this along with all of my staking rewards for a total of 234.29 SPS. The total SPS was around what I usually expected. I stacked up the VOUCHERS and I did not sell during the wagons earlier this month. So I plan on stacking them for now and waiting for a new opportunity in the future.

Conclusion

The ranked battle changes have happened and I am doing way worst because of it. I am glad that my luck in terms of reward chests did at least come out better as I got some legendary cards. However, the level of my cards is proving to be a heavy handicap against me when I want to rank higher in modern. I will be testing modern for a few more seasons and then I might go to Wild if things do not recover.
