Splinterlands: Giam Root is an amazing card in Collateral Damage

Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used Giam Root.

Featured cards

Giam Root is an earth splinter that costs 9 mana. This card has strengthen to start. Leveling this card increases its attack. Since this is a foundational card, it can only go up to level 2.

This is a card that I like to use often in Foundational fights if the mana allows for it because of its high health. This means that the rest of my monsters can deal more damage before moving up to the frontmost spot.

Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

rule set.png

The rulesets this time are Weak Magic and Collateral Damage. This means that monsters gain the reckless and void armor ability. There is also 40 mana available, and I can use every splinter except water and dragon.

SplinterMana CostPositionReason
Aurelia6Summoner+1 Health
Giam Root91stStrengthen
Dread Tafarian92ndHeal
New Beluroc Aegis83rdTaunt
Mad Gearhead64thReach
Total Mana:38

The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while dealing damage and outlasting my opponent. My archon is Aurelia for the +1 health. Giam Root is my tank with strengthen followed by Dread Tafarian with heal, and New Beluroc Aegis with taunt. Mad Gearhead won't be able to attack until two of my monsters die. So I plan to just let my opponent kill himself as I soak up the damage and have Dread outlast my opponent.

Round 1

round 1.png
At first glance, I think that I have this match won because my opponent has so many monsters that can attack, so the collateral damage will be huge. The only concern I have is that poison monster, as it can kill off my monsters over time if I get unlucky.

Round 10

round 10.png
A few rounds later, my opponent's lineup is reduced to 1 monster, and I still have two. I have this match won becaus my Dread will outlast my opponent. Any damage my opponent deals will b healed up.

I won the match later that round.

Conclusion

The battle this time did go exactly as planned. I outlasted my opponent through the us of Collateral damage. The combination of Giam Root and Aegis allowed me to avoid dealing any collateral damage to my team while my opponent essentially killed off his own team.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

The reflect ruleset really affected your opponent so much. Dread tafarian with its heal ability won the game for you.It was a really nice set up.Kudos 👏

Great game, at the beginning I thought you were actually going to lose that game, you kept your "heal card" at the middle of the cards where it wouldn't get any random attack, great game.

I guess the enemy team may have underestimated the effect of the Collateral Damage
