Splinterlands: Levels matter in fights, just one monster's level was the difference between a win and loss
Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a battle where one monster level made the difference.
Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The rulesets this time are Fog of War and Tis But Stratches. This means that all monsters gain the cripple ability, and no monsters can have opportunity/snipe/sneak. There is also 25 mana available, and I can use any splinter except for dragon.
| Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| Marlai Singariel | 6 | Summoner | +1 Magic |
| Asel Alagosdil | 4 | 1st | Divine Shield |
| Water-Logged Wizard | 6 | 2nd | Deflect |
| Mystic Scaleweaver | 9 | 3rd | Slow |
| Total Mana: | 25 |
The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while dealing damage and outlasting my opponent. My archon is Marlai Singariel for the +1 magic. My tank is Asel Alagosdil with divine shield. My backup tank is Water-Logged Wizard followed by Mystic Scaleweaver.
Round 1

At first glance, I think that this match is my win because my Asel is at a higher level, and that means it can survive the first round, but my opponent's can't. So my team will be one attack ahead and in a fight where our attacking monsters are the same level; it's an easy win.
Round 4

A few rounds later, both of us have 1 monster left, but my monster has more than enough health. So this is my win.

I won later that round.
Conclusion
The battle did not go exactly as I planned. Both of us used the exact same lineup, but I had my Asel at level 2 while my opponent only had his at level 1. This was the difference between the two of us, and that was what gave me the edge to win the match because my Asel could survive the first round but his could not.
You can see my entire match here.
What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

Your tank having more health than your opponents tank of the same monster was the game changer. I have experience such battle. If everything was the same,it would normally end in a draw. Weldone warrior 👏.
Great game, I've been in games like this where I put out the same lineup with my opponent, only for them to actually take the game by a small margin. Great win, having cards with better health made the difference
Good battle Summoner!
Sometimes lower level monsters are better but not this time! 😏
The match shows the importance of leveling up the cards
