Splinterlands: Mycelic Slipspawn is great in a Equal Opportunity ruleset

Splinterlands is a complex game and it allows for various different cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various different rulesets applied and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a card named Mycelic Slipspawn and why it is useful in fights.

Mycelic Slipspawn is a earth monster that starts off with taunt. It learns forcefield ability and slow when it is leveled up. This makes it a good card to use when there is enough mana available to keep the rest of the team alive. Each BCX of this card currently costs 8-9 cents each for this rare card.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

The ruleset this time is up to eleven and equal opportunity. This means that only odd mana monsters can be used and all monsters gain the opportunity ability. There is also 34 mana available and I am the choice of earth or life splinter.

My summoner is Immortalis due to the ability it gives. Having -1 health, void and shatter will make my fight much easier. At least, this will negate most of the magic damage that I will get.

My plan is to have Pelacor Mercenary up front to deal with the melee tank that my opponent will put down. After that, I have Regal Pertyon to shatter any monster's armor first. I also have Mycelic Slipspawn in the last spot with taunt to give my monsters enough time to kill my opponent. There is also triage to heal Mycelic Slipspawn and give me more time.

Round 1

round 1.png
At first glance of my opponent's lineup, I think I have the advantage because my opponent's strongest monster will only do 1 damage due to forcefield. At the same time, most of the damage is also magic so my summoner is a counter towards that damage.

Round 2

round 2.png
It looks like I killed off my opponent's martyr monster and that only helped me. Now it has increased another monster's damage to 5 and this means that it will only do 1 damage on my Mycelic Slipspawn.

Round 3

round 3.png
My opponent is left with 2 monsters and only 1 of them can really deal decent damage. So at this point, it's impossible for my opponent to win unless I miss a lot of attacks. I don't think that will happen because I have multiple magic monsters and my opponent can't heal.

A few turns later I won due to my damage. I was able to win this match without losing a single card.

Conclusion

The battle this time around went exactly as I expected. Mycelic Slipspawn did a great job as it tanked most of the hits and all of the damage it took was also healed by triage. My summoner also helped because it cut down on the magic damage I got and my use of magic monsters helped me kill off a lot of my opponent's card. I wasn't expecting my opponent to use Martyr but that only worked to my advantage due to Forcefield.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

Damn it, that was a cruel strategy from you, that Forcefield ability is a pain when attacking with +5.
Great strategy!

Yea. I wasn't expecting Forcefield to be so useful but my opponent definitely tried to capitalize on those high damaging cards.
