Splinterlands: Passive Rental Income Update #7

avatar
(Edited)

I was honestly a bit shocked to look at my revenue at the end of the previous season because it was close to 2k DEC just for the last day. From what I see, most of what is happening in the rental market is due to the amount of CP per day. From there, cards also have higher value based on their utility. It's been more than 2 weeks since my 6th update on my rental strategy. I saw that my rentals need to be reset every few days if I want to make sure things are rented out and I am making the most of what I can.

I am a bit sad about the most recent Chaos Legion airdrop cards because I had 500 airdrop points and I had over 95% of getting a single card. However, I didn't get a single card from the airdrop and I am hoping my luck with the legendary summoners is better.

Rental Progress

My original post, where I announced my strategy, shows my general motivation for doing choosing this strategy. The DEC price is still dropping and I expect it to drop back down towards the soft peg price. One of the biggest benefits of this rental strategy is that I am still collecting points toward the SPS airdrop.

Purchases

As always, I used Monster Market to purchase my cards for the cashback. I used up the DEC I earned from ranked battles, rental income, and rewards chest. The prices are a bit more expensive this time around but I am still adding to my stockpile. My current rentals are generating a few hundred DEC a day and the last day of the season usually generates over 1k DEC. As I collect more cards from my rewards chest, I am also able to rent out more cards and have them working to generate revenue.

Income

My income and all rental price management are done through Peak Monsters because of the tools it provides me. The past few rental seasons have been looking great and even the current system is looking quite nice. I do plan to update prices closer to the end of the season.

Last time, I didn't change my rental prices that much and there were a lot of cards that were left unrented. This time around, I decided to pay more attention to the prices and I have been making sure that a majority of them stay rented. With around a week left in the season, I think 500-700 DEC a day is plenty, and I might be able to get 2k or so on the last day or two.

Conclusion

Prices are a bit higher than the last time I bought cards but my strategy is paying off and I can buy some cards for myself. In a way, this means that I have the legendary cards to level up when I do want to push up further in the leagues. However, that might have to wait until I level up my summoners. I am considering buying some summoners so I can level up my current ones but I am still unsure if I want to go through with it. Maybe using my VOUCHERS for that might be better and the rentals should focus on cheaper cards that I can rent.

What are your plans regarding rentals in Splinterlands?

I notice there's demand for the cards towards end of season must be due to CP, all my cards was basically rented few days to the end of last season. Am expecting the say this season.

I have been unlucky so far in the Legendary Airdrops, hopefully am luck in future airdrops.

It is high time I start focusing on my summoners too and push them towards level 5.

Yes, the last 2 days or so in the season is the best day of the season. Sometimes, it can be worth a week's worth of rental income so it makes sense to cancel cards and relist them at a higher price. Just drop the price down after the season ends though because the demand drops then.

Keeping an eye out for price is a good idea because the price changes when you compare season end to the normal part of the season.

Splinterlands has so many options available. You can flip packs or NFTs, rent out cards or even just hold onto assets for the SPS airddrop.

Good luck. I think CP per DEC is very important when you first get started so you should probably focus on cards that are still in print.

What a great post. I have been wondering about renting some cards. This helps

I hope it helps. I suggest starting off with the cards not out of print because they are cheaper and I find that CP per DEC is usually what the rental prices are based on.

I buy and rent mostly gold reward cards because they rent a higher portion of the time, and I think longterm they should appreciate better then legendaries. But I am a relative newbie here since October.

Those are also good choices. I use to buy some gold foil rare cards but I haven't boughten any lately. Most of my purchases lately have been for legendary cards.

I love the rental opportunity. I try to keep prices low and never really play the end of season bumps...Mostly because I want it hands off...And managing prices every day to get all your cards rented can be a challenge lol

Yea I try to check prices every few days. In peakmonsters, I click the compare prices to see if the CP per DEC has really changed much since last time. If I need to, then I will change prices afterwads.

Man, I enjoy your work on the rental records since I also have that habits to track my income or expense. Great work!

I think the pump of rental is mainly because the bots have swiped them up and pump the price.

It could be and I think I heard the end of the Uniswap DEC liquidity rewards have caused the battle rewards to go up. Maybe some of those extra bots started playing after these changes.

I love Peakmonsters, it makes it everything so easy and quick. My revenue was also decent these days and increasing my airdrop. Good to know that your strategy is working. I am buying cards and putting everything on rent. 🔥

Yea I think putting them to use is a good idea. I just rent out whatever isn't needed to keep my current rank. The last few days of the season tend to be the best though.
