Splinterlands Rebellion Pre-sale and my plan

Rebellion went on pre-sale a little over a day ago and you can find more information about it here. I have been on the fence for quite a while about whether or not to join in on this or not. When rebellion gets released, untamed will be removed from modern and that will definitely make me suffer because of how much I use untamed in my ranked battles or brawls.

Pre-sale

The pre-sale will last for 30 days or if the 500k packs they offered up are bought up. As of right now, over 250k has been sold but it has slowed down quite a bit. I saw that it took about 12 hours for it to sell over 200k, and 50k has been sold in the 12 hours afterward. I am waiting for my funds to come out of my savings to buy 100 packs from the pre-sale. For the airdrops afterward, people are expected to either hold onto the packs or the cards to qualify. So that works out for me because I want to keep being competitive in modern rank battles.

Why do I want the Rebellion cards?

I found the information about the new summoner and card abilities here. The new abilities are above but I think corrosive ward and lookout are the more interesting abilities. Corrosive Ward will help against those repair fights and lookout will allow your backline to live longer. I can find lookout being especially useful when combined with taunt.

Dual-Element summoners are also quite nice and you can also pick which ability the summoner should give after seeing the opponent's lineup. At the same time, changing the Target Options can expand the types of teams that my opponent can use. With the new abilities from cards and summoners, I think that I would definitely be lacking if I do not have these cards when modern removes untamed.

My Plan

I started the withdrawal of HBD funds yesterday night. So I will still need a little more than 2 days left before I can get those funds available. With how the purchases have slowed, I hope that the pre-sale packs will still be available for me when I get the funds available. I will worry about my HBD goal later on and rebuild it in the next 2 months to reach my goal.

Promo cards

There are two promo cards that are available and you will get a Grimbardun Smith for every 10 packs. Mantaroth is 1% for each pack or 100 for a guaranteed card. The promo cards look like they could be quite useful and I usually miss out on these promo cards. If I manage to buy in after my HBD is withdrawn, then I should get 11 Smiths and 1 Mantaroth at the minimum. The cards also look quite different compared to the existing cards so it's quite nice to see.

Conclusion

The Rebellion pre-sale is going on and I do plan on taking part. It took a while before finally deciding to take out my funds so I will be waiting to see what happens in the next few days. I chose to get in on the pre-sale because of the new abilities and summoners. I need them to replace my untamed cards when they get removed from modern.
