Splinterlands: Sand Worm packs a punch in Unprotected
Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used Sand Worm.
Featured cards

Sand Worm is a neutral splinter that costs 9 mana. This splinter starts with the Sneak ability. Leveling up this card increases the stats of this monster, and it learns snare at level 5 and piercing at level 10. I use this card from time to time in Brawls because of its nice damage.
Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The rulesets this time are Rise of the Commons and Unprotected. This means that only rare/common cards can be used and there is no armor. There is also 92 mana available, and I can use any splinter except for earth and dragon.
| Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pembrook Nymph | 6 | Summoner | +1 Health and extra gladiator |
| Alva the Crusher | 6 | 1st | Shield and bloodlust |
| Relenor Cleaver | 9 | 2nd | Reach and bloodlust |
| Demented Shark | 6 | 3rd | Inspire |
| Sand Worm | 9 | 4th | Sneak |
| Total Mana: | 36 |
The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while dealing damage and outlasting my opponent. My archon is Barthalamas for the +1 HP and extra Gladiator. My tank is Alva the Crusher with shield and bloodlust. After that is my backup tank Relenor Cleaver with reach and bloodlust. Finally, I have Demented Shark for the inspire, and Sand Worm as my final monster.
Round 1

At first glance, I think that this match can go either way. If I can land my hits, then I can win, but otherwise it might just come down to luck because Sand Worm is quite slow.
Round 3

A few rounds later, my opponent has 1 monster left while I have 3 of mine. I got lucky as my Sand Worm didn't miss a single attack, so I was able to reduce the damage that I took. Otherwise, this would be dangerous due to his Chimney.

I won the match later that round.
Conclusion
The battle this time did go exactly as planned. I went for pure damage due to that unprotected ruleset, and my Sand Worm did its job of wiping out that backline. I am just glad that it didn't miss any attacks because I could have easily been destroyed by a buffed-up Chimney.
You can see my entire match here.
What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

Sand Worm is one of my favorite cards to used before because of its high damage
