Splinterlands Seventeenth Season of 2023, Gladius Packs and SPS

The Splinterlands season ended earlier this week so I want to review my rewards and check up on some things in the game. I stayed in Silver rank for most of the season and advanced on the day before the end to get some gold chests. My plan didn't go according to schedule and I didn't get as many chests as I got in the previous season. The fights were just tough and I stopped when I reached Gold II because I didn't want to risk anything for my rewards.

Season Rewards

Compared to last season, my rewards would be worst than last time. I didn't get any chaos legion packs and I feel that it's quite lacking compared to what I got the previous few seasons. There is less SPS this time around and no legendary cards again. However, there were a few gold foil cards. There was some epic cards this time too but my potions are lower too but I feel the number of rewards that I got was lacking.

Gladius Packs

I was able to collect 6 packs since the last time I opened packs. My guild has been regularly placing 2nd place or 1st in brawls and we could get into 3 star brawls. However, our guild has been sticking to 2 stars specifically. It wasn't the best but at least an epic card this time around. I do wish that there were some gold cards though to help expand my options in brawls.

I was able to upgrade the Orella Abadon Gladiator card to level 2. This does not give any new abilities but it does increase it's attack by one. As a low mana sneak card, I think it's quite useful. I

I was able to level up Bertrol Gobson Gladiator to level 4. There are also no new abilities but like my previous card, increasing a low mana opportunity. It did get an extra health so it wasn't that bad of an upgrade.

The third card that I upgraded was Palidon Rakk to level 3. Like my previous 2 cards, it doesn't gain any new ability but it does gain an extra attack. I don't think I would use this card much though because it can only attack from the first spot as a melee monster.

The last card that I upgraded was Helmet Kharafax to level 4. It gained the void ability and this will make it far more useful. It's a low mana card but I don't know how much I like it. Compared to the other life gladiators, it isn't as high up in my list of cards to use.

SPS

The numbers are lower than last time. The main reason was my luck in season chests and the brawls/ranked battle rewards were about the same.

My pool rewards for the season is 100.823 SPS. I plan on staking all of this along with all of my staking rewards for a total of 255.865 SPS. It looks like my liquidity rewards are down slightly compared to the previous season. I wonder if the rewards have dropped or if more people joined into the pool compared to two weeks ago. The total SPS was around what I usually expected if I discount the difference between the liquidity rewards. Either way, I am still gathering more VOUCHERS for the next promo card. I haven't heard any news about any new sales and the team seems to be more focused on land. So I will just let those VOUCHERS stake up.

Conclusion

Going forward, I will be sticking with the Silver League and moving up to gold on the last day. The rewards are not that great this time in Gold rank and I hope my luck is better next time. While it isn't the worst, I still think this is the 2nd worst result out of my 7 season rewards. So far, out of 7 claims, 5 of them were good and this was the fourth time when I used the potions along with the season rewards so I was expecting it to help me out more. The quality of the chests does matter but I don't know how things will go because the fights have become more competitive as people rush into modern ranked battles. I thought that the battles would get easier but it's hard.
