Splinterlands Sixteenth Season of 2023, Gladius Packs and SPS

The Splinterlands season ended earlier this week so I want to review my rewards and check up on some things in the game. I stayed in Silver rank for most of the season and advanced on the day before the end to get some gold chests because I didn't want to surrender matches towards the end to stay in Gold II. As long as I manage that, I should be fine. The strategy worked and I did get some gold chests for my season rewards. My rewards are looking great this time around so I think it's working out so far.

Season Rewards

Compared to last season, my rewards would be a lot better than last time. I got 3 chaos legion packs and I can't remember the last time I got 3. There is less SPS this time around and no legendary cards but the chances are better than in Silver. However, I got 5 copies of a gold foil rare card. There was some epic cards this time too but my potions are lower too. The number of cards seems to be about the same as last time too. I did remember to toggle the option to use potions on my chest before the season end.

Gladius Packs

I was able to collect 6 packs since the last time I opened packs. My guild has been regularly placing 2nd place or 1st in brawls and it looks like there will be 3 star brawls in the mix now too.The opening wasn't so bad and I was able to upgrade a few cards but no gold foil cards or legendary cards.

I was able to upgrade the Krash Wanderford Gladiator card to level 4. This gives him the thorns ability. I don't really use this card much but I think it can be quite useful as a low mana tank card and it also has the swiftness skill to increase the speed of my units.

I was able to level up Sarius Gladiator to level 3. This means that it gains an extra ranged attack. It looks like a decent card to use but I just don't see myself using this much. It does cost very little mana though.

The third card that I upgraded was Isgald Vorst. I use it sometimes when the right ruleset happens with the Possibilitus summoner. The opportunity makes it quite useful and that makes it easier to get off bloodlust too.

The last card that I upgraded was Alfredo. I don't remember the last time I used this card but it looks like it could be an option in low mana fights. Upgrading it to level 3 also gives it an extra ranged attack so it is an appealing low mana card to use now.

SPS

The numbers are slightly lower than last time. I got less in terms of seasonal chests and brawls but made up for it in ranked battles plus focus chests.

My pool rewards for the season is 109.468 SPS and I forgot to screenshot it. So I pulled it up from the currency log in Splinterlands. I plan on staking all of this along with all of my staking rewards for a total of 274.507 SPS. It looks like my liquidity rewards tend to be quite stable and this time around, it's been exactly 2 weeks since I last collected so this was about what I expected. The total SPS was around what I usually expected and it looks like the boost change has gone up quite a bit from last time. Either way, I am still gathering more VOUCHERS for the next promo card. With the numbers so close to staking rewards and pools, I staked a similar amount compared to last time.

Conclusion

Going forward, I will be sticking with the Silver League and moving up to gold on the last day. The rewards are good this time in Gold rank and I hope my luck is better next time. I will wait to see if there are any other changes in terms of my rewards. So far, out of 6 claims, 5 of them were good and this was the third time when I used the potions along with the season rewards so it helped out quite a bit. The quality of the chests does matter but I don't know how things will go because the fights have become more competitive as people rush into modern ranked battles. Also, the battles are starting to level off so I think the tough opponents have started to advance in their league.
