Splinterlands Social Media Challenge: Anachron Bolter is a great card to reduce ranged damage

Splinterlands is a pretty complicated game and there are some interesting battles with all the options available. This is a part of the weekly social media challenge for Splinterlands. This week the topic is a great battle that I had recently.

Featured card: Anachron Bolter

The card that I am focused on is Anachron Bolter. It's one of the Rebellion cards and I only have mine at level 1. It has headwinds to start and this reduces the ranged damage that my opponent will have. It learns repair later when leveled up. It is also a duo magic and ranged monster so I think it can be quite useful.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

The ruleset this time is Explosive Weaponry and Even Stevens. This means that all monsters gain the blast ability and only even mana monsters can be used. There are 15 mana available and I am left with the choice of fire, earth, life, or dragonsplinter.

I used Quix the Devious as my summoner so that my opponent loses 1 ranged attack and speed. My lineup starts off with Djinn Chwala for thorns. Then I have Corsair Bosun for the reflection shield and reach. After that is Anachron Bolter for reducing the ranged damage. After that are some sneak monsters and Chaos dragon with scattershot.

Round 1

My opponent is using a summoner with return fire and the speed rebuffed is canceled out by his summoner. I am glad that I did reduce the ranged damage because my opponent is using a lot of ranged monsters. Both of us have Corsair Bosun in the 2nd spot so it depends more on who can kill off monsters faster. I do have sneak and scattershot to deal damage to the backline. My opponent is faster so it depends on some luck.

Round 2

My opponent lost a monster but my tank look a lot of damage. My opponent
s entire lineup went first so I am glad that I was able to weather the first round. I got lucky and Chaos Dragon landed on the backline.

Round 3

I lost two monsters and my opponent lost one monster last round. It looks like this match will be very close and it will depend on my luck with Chaos Dragon.

Round 4

Both me and my opponent are down to two monsters left. At least the marytr will let my melee monster attack first but it will kind of rely on Chaos Dragon to dodge a few attacks. If I can manage that, then I win otherwise I will lose.

I was able to dodge enough attacks and win the match.

Conclusion

The battle this time around went exactly as I expected. The combined effect of my summoner and Anachron Bolter was able to reduce my enemies' ranged damage by 2 and this allowed me to survive long enough. My opponent had a speed advantage but I was able to take out enough monsters in the backline and win the match. I did have to rely on a little bit of luck to dodge enough attacks but without that reduced ranged damage, I would have never gotten to that point.
