Splinterlands Social Media Challenge: Wailing Wraith is great in reverse speed matches

Splinterlands is a pretty complicated game and there are some interesting battles with all the options available. This is a part of the weekly social media challenge for Splinterlands. This week the topic is a great battle that I had recently.

Featured card: Wailing Wraith

The card that I am focused on is Wailing Wraith. It's one of the Rebellion cards and I got one copy of this card at level 1. It has reach and armored strike to start off. It learns affliction and rust later when leveled up. Armored strike allows an extra attack using it's current armor.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

The ruleset this time is Reverse Speed and Counterspell. This means that all monsters gain the magic reflect ability and monsters with lower speed attack first. There are 25 mana available and I am left with the choice of death or dragon splinter.

I used Astral Entity as my summoner so that my opponent loses 2 armor, and my cards get dodge and resurrect. My lineup starts off with a thorns tank. Then comes Wailing Wraith in the 2nd spot to attack. I have my ranged damage dealers and one of which has protect. This will increase the damage from my Wailing Wraith's armored strike. My last spot is a fiend to tank any sneak attacks and give my damage dealers more time to deal damage.

Round 1

round 1.png
My opponent is using a duo ability summoner and it looks like he gave his monsters ambush. I hope that the attacks don't come back to kill me off but at least my frontmost monster has thorns. Other than that, I think I have the advantage because my opponent doesn't have many attackers.

Round 2

round 2.png
I was lucky enough to kill two of my opponent monsters and I haven't lost a single monster yet. At this point, my opponent's damage has been severely dropped and I still have my resurrect. So I think this win is mine at this point as I don't think I can miss that many attacks.

A few rounds later, I was able to win the match.

Conclusion

The battle this time around went exactly as I expected. My thorns tank definitely helped out quite a bit as it dealt a lot of damage against my opponent's main damage dealer. My opponent was also using armored strike but thorns stopped it from being very effective. My summoner did a great job of reducing the armor because it could have been way more dangerous otherwise. I think my opponent just didn't have many attackers and I felt that his reliance on the first two monsters hurt his chances.

You can see my entire match here.

Your Splinterlands gaming experience sounds interesting and it's clear you had a lot of fun while playing it. I think you chose the right summoner and that's what helped you win. Thanks for sharing and have a nice day.

Yea. It's fun even if it can be frustrating.
