Splinterlands: Speed is important in fights

Splinterlands is a complex game and it allows for various different cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various different rulesets applied and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about how speed is important is fights. It allows your cards to attack first and it also increases the chance of your card dodging attacks.

Featured Monsters

Time Mage.png

Time Mage is a life monster that starts off with slow. It learns rust when it is leveled up. The stats are also decent as it's fast as a magic monster. The only downside is the low health of this monster but as a support monster, it's amazing because it slows down the opponent.

Supply Runner.png
Supply Runner is a neutral monster that starts off with no ability. It learns swiftness and strengthen when it is leveled up. It's another fast monster with good supportive abilities. The increased speed helps out you take out your opponents before they can take out yours.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

rule set.png

The ruleset this time is weak magic and equalizer. This means that armor will always be hit first and all monsters start off with the same health. There is also 30 mana available and I am the choice of just life splinter.

I will be using General Sloan as my summoner because I think it's a good choice to increase my range damage and I can play cards to their highest level.

My plan is to have magic reflect up front incase my opponent uses magic monsters. After that would be my mages then my ranged monsters. I have slow and swiftness to make my team move faster and I have tank heal to heal my monsters. In the worst case, I also have a shatter monster to remove the armor before the rest of my monsters attack.

Round 1

round 1.png
At first glance of my opponent's lineup, I think iI have an advantage. My opponent has a gladiator but I have magic reflect in the second spot so it should help me. I have a damage advantage but I still think it will be a tough fight because of weapons training.

Round 3

round 3.png
I skipped to the third round and I got quite lucky as I dodged a few of my opponent's attacks and I didn't miss either. This let me kill off two monsters and this gives me a massive advantage.

Round 4

round 4.png
With my speed advantage, I was able to take out my opponent before most of his team could attack and this allowed me to survive without losing any monsters. At this point, there is no way for my opponent to win unless I get very unlucky.

As expected, I won the match a few rounds later.

Conclusion

The battle this time around went exactly as I expected. I had a speed advantage due to time mage and supply runner. This let me attack first and it increased the chance that my monsters would dodge attacks. Combined with my lineup, I was able to outdamage and kill off my opponent before he could take out any of my monsters. Speed is very important in matches as it can be quite helpful.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
