Splinterlands: Starting to max out some cards in my Foundational Set

Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this specific post, I will talk about what upgrades I did to my deck from playing in the Foundational ranked battles and claiming Foundational card rewards.

What does upgrading cards give you?

Upgrading cards can either increase the stats on a card or give them new abilities. There are two types of cards: archons and monsters. The Archons (summoners) determine the maximum level of the monsters you can use, and some gives buffs/debuffs in the fights.

Archon Upgrades

I was able to max out two different archons, and they are the fire and life archons in the Foundation set. I did have my Earth Archon maxed out a while ago.

Monster Upgrades

I was able to max out two legendary cards. The first is A'lan Musketeer, and I think this is one of the best cards to upgrade. This card has double strike, and its damage essentially doubles with this upgrade. The other is Celestial Guardian, and this increases its health by 2 and speed by 1. I think the stat increase is quite a bit, and it's now more worth using.

My final two upgrades were Sturdy Axe Warden and Wilhelmdale Deputy. These are both common cards, but increasing these cards does increase their health by 1. That makes them more tankier, and who knows if that one health can determine the difference between a win or loss.

Conclusion

My deck in Frontier is looking better after these upgrades. With these cards, and the black/gold arcane foil that I got, my deck is starting to look closer to maxing out. I wanted to focus on these cards because they can be used in Frontier, and you never know if that is enough to get me some extra wins. Frontier has been my focus for ranked battles over the past few months, and I am glad that I am starting to get closer to that final goal.
