Splinterlands: Using New Beluroc Aegis in Noxious Fumes and Global Warming

Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used New Beluroc Aegis.

New Beluroc Aegis is a neutral splinter that costs 8 mana. This splinter starts with the taunt ability. Leveling up this card only increases the stats of this monster. I use this monster quite often in Frontier because taunt makes it a very good monster to use. It is able to soak up quite a bit of damage.

Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The rulesets this time are Noxious Fumes and Global Warming. This means that all monsters start off poisoned and burned. There is also 42 mana available, and I can use every splinter except for water, earth, and life.

My summoner is Thalgrimore for the -1 health. My tank is Nim Guard Captain with void. After that is Sorrow Harvester with weaken. I have two ranged monsters Black Widow and Lenore Nevermore after that. My final monster is New Beluroc Aegis.

The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while dealing damage and outlasting my opponent. Nim Guard Captain will work well to tank damage and delay my opponent, and the New Beluroc Aegis will ensure the rest of my lineup is safe.

Round 1

round 1.png
At first glance, I think that I have the advantage in this match due to my lineup. My opponent's backline doesn't have much health, and the poison/burn will wipe him out without too many issues. My archon and Sorrow Harvester also decrease my opponent's health.

Round 3

round 3.png
A round later, my opponent's lineup has low health, and the poison/burn will be ticking this round. This is my win because that damage will kill off my opponent's lineup while I still have monsters that can survive.

I won the match as I expected.

Conclusion

The battle this time did go exactly as planned. I set up my lineup to outlast my opponent. The poison/burn wrecked my opponent's lineup, and New Beluroc Aegis tanked the hits so the rest of my lineup would survive. Even if my opponent had some monsters that could survive, he would have to deal with my 3 remaining monsters.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

I think you would have lost if not for the burn, the opponent had the right strategy, they were just undone by that burn that hit them
