Splinterlands Weekly Challenge Battle! BATTLE MAGE SECRETS (AIM TRUE)

avatar

Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge to share a battle using a specific card and on this week's post it is a battle with the Aim True rule set. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because you get to try different strategies and earn some crypto in the process.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

The ruleset this time is rise of the commons and aim true. This means that only common or rare cards can be used and no monsters will miss their attacks. There is also 35 mana available and I am left with the choice of water, earth, or life splinter.

The summoner I choose to use this time is General Sloan. In a match like this, ranged monsters can't miss so I can make the most of this buff and my cards can be played at their highest level.

SplinterMana CostPositionReason
General Sloan4Summoner+1 ranged attack
Drybone Barbarian91stEnrage
Pelacor Conjurer22ndReflect
Herbalist23rdCleanse
Pelacor Arbalest64thDouble attack
Venari Crystalsmith45thTank Heal
Shieldbearer86thTaunt
Total Mana:35

My plan is just to have a lineup using a strong enrage monster up front. I have Pelacor Conjurer as a backup tank with reflect followed by my ranged damage dealers. I also have a taunt monster in the last spot to attract the damage so my ranged damage dealers and my enrage tank can survive longer.

Round 1

round 1.png

At the first glance of my opponent's lineup, I think I have the stronger lineup due my taunt monster. My damage dealers towards the back will do more damage than my opponent and I have a decent amount of damage on my lineup. The only issue is whether or not I can kill off enough cards before my taunt monster dies

Round 2

round 2.png
With one monster down and my taunt monster is only half dead. I don't really have an advantage in speed but I should be able to take out another monster or two before it dies.

Round 3

round 3.png
My taunt monster is finally dead but it has given me plenty of time to take out the tanky monsters. I don't foresee myself losing because I can't miss. I have a conjurer in the back as backup incase my tank does die.

Round 4

round 4.png
With no more melee monsters on my opponents side, I can't lose this match anymore.

I won the match without any problems.

Conclusion

The battle this time around went exactly as I expected. The lineup I went for was able to deal a decent amount of damage while the taunt monster was targetted. Despite the speed disadvantage, the ruleset helped me and I didn't miss any of my attacks. The choice of offense over defense using taunt was a great choice.

The +1 ranged from General Sloan was useful and it also allowed me to place the highest level monsters that I could. On my opponent's side, I think he had a solid lineup but there wasn't much he could do outside of hitting my taunt monster. It was focused more on trying to take out my low health damage dealers but it didn't work.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

Yea it can work well with a taunt monster. It let that enraged Drybone survive longer.
