Splinterlands Weekly Challenge Battle BATTLE MAGE SECRETS! Counterspell rule set

Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge to share a rule set using a specific card and on this week's post it is a battle with the Counterspell rule set. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because you get to try different strategies and earn some crypto in the process.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

The ruleset this time is Counterspell, Holy Protection and Explosive Weaponry. All monsters gain the magic reflect, divine shield and blast ability. There are also 38 mana available and I am left with the choice of fire, earth, death, or dragon splinter.

The summoner I choose to use this time is Eternan Brune. It reduces my enemy's armor by 2 and I can use an extra gladiator.

Eternan Brune6Summoner-2 armor
Antoid Platoon41stShield
Chimney Wallstop102ndReach and Bloodlust
Disintegrator73rdDemoralize
Total Mana:27

My plan is to have Antoid delay my opponent up front. It will slow down my opponent with the shield ability. Then I have Chimney Wallstop with reach and bloodlust. I am relying on that along with blast to kill off a lot of monsters. Then I have Disintegrator for the demoralize to reduce my enemies melee attacks. Overall, I am sacrificing the ability to use more monsters in order to build a stronger Chiney Wallstop through bloodlust.

Round 1

round 1.png
At first glance, I think that my opponent has the advantage because my opponent will have a speed advantage due to his summoner and my opponent also has more monsters than me. it hurts to see that my opponent is using camouflage shield so my bloodlust strategy won't be as effective. It also looks like my opponent is using quite a few ranged monsters and he has a monster with inspire so my demoralize strategy is canceled out.

Round 2

round 2.png
I failed to land any attacks and most of my monsters are almost dead. It's suppose to be round 2 but I guess Splinterlands messed up and noted it as round 3. When I play the rest of match, the round does fix itself.

conclusion.png
I got completely wiped out by my opponent without being able to land any attacks. The speed advantage was just too much to overcome.

Conclusion

The battle did not go as expected because my opponent focused on melee. I was going to rely on bloodlust to wipe out my opponent, but my opponent outplayed me. He played a lot of fast monsters due to his summoner and his level advantage. In contrast, my monsters are quite slow in comparison and this means that my opponent will move first and my physical attacks are less likely to land. I understand that using fewer stronger monsters wasn't a good idea because of the holy protection ruleset and that means that blast would not be as effective. Getting hit by so many monsters hurt as that blast damage adds up over time. I need to consider the rulesets more when placing my lineup.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players play in a ruleset.

Ah dam. I forgot to change the community when I made the post today. I have been putting it in the right community for some of my posts throughout the week. It's been a busy weekend. I'll try to keep it in mind for my future posts.

Only the best give credit where it’s due. Knowing when chance comes they will have their deserved victory. Great write up.

Yea. It's rough because there are so many different lineups that people can use. It might not work out the way you intended.

Sorry for the battle not going the way you expected
I think it is better to focus on two or more cards next time so if one does not work, the other one will

It depends on the match and the ruleset. Sometimes it just depends.

Don't let the losses get to you. I wish you more luck when next you play, and hope you get more wins. Thanks for writing and have a great day.

It's just a part of the game. Sometimes you can't do anything about them but it's a learning experience.
