Splinterlands Weekly Challenge Battle BATTLE MAGE SECRETS! Equal Opportunity ruleset - It's tough to overcome a level disadvantage

Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge to share a rule set using a specific card and on this week's post it is a battle with the Equal Opportunity rule set. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because you get to try different strategies and earn some crypto in the process.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

The ruleset this time is Equal Opportunity and Back to the Basics. This means all monsters gain the opportunity ability and all the rest of the abilities that monsters have are gone. There are also 45 mana available and I am left with the choice of water, earth, life, or death splinter.

The summoner I choose to use this time is Immortalis. It reduces my enemy's health by 1 and it gives my monsters shatter and void.

My plan is to have a bunch of magic monsters with some ranged monsters as my main damage. I have Regal to attack first to shatter the armor and then the rest should be able to take out a few monsters. I have Lurking Puffer in the 2nd spot to tank some of those opportunity attacks.

Round 1

At first glance, I think that I am in danger. My opponent has almost maxed level cards and he has more damage than I do. On the other side, I do have the first attack but I don't really think it can outlast my opponent. The good thing is that shatter will at least remove the armor. Also, my focus on magic damage is hurt by my enemies's summoner.

Round 2

I lost one monster while my opponent only lost 1. I did do quite a bit of damage to my opponent's tank. I am still at a disadvantage but I may still have a chance if I can dodge a few more attacks.

Round 3

It's another rough round because I didn't miss any attacks. however, I was able to take out two monsters from my opponent while only losing 1. However, I am still at a disadvantage and if my Florre goes up to the front, I lost a lot of my damage.

Round 4

I didn't dodge any attacks again. So this match is a lost cause for me. My opponent has way too much damage and I don't think it is very likely for me to dodge enough attacks to win the match.

As I expected, I lost the match.

Conclusion

The battle did not exactly like I expected and I think the level advantage was just too much to overcome. My focus on magic monsters backfired on me. If I used ranged or melee monsters, I could have possible overcome this but I can't change things. I still think I had a decent lineup and that level advantage that my opponent had gave it enough speed plus damage to overcome my lineup.
