Splinterlands Weekly Challenge Battle BATTLE MAGE SECRETS! Equalizer ruleset and Quix makes the difference

avatar

Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge to share a rule set using a specific card and on this week's post it is a battle with the Equalizer rule set. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because you get to try different strategies and earn some crypto in the process.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

rule set.png

The ruleset this time is Lost Magic and Equalizer. This means that no magic monsters can be used and all monsters will also start with the same health. There are also 45 mana available and I am left with the choice of water, death, or dragon splinter.

summoner.png
The summoner I choose to use this time is Quix the Devious. It reduces my enemy's speed and ranged attack by 1.

Quix the Devious4Summoner-1 speed and ranged attack
Djinn Chwala81stThorns
Carnage Titan112ndReach and Double Strike
Vruz23rdSneak and Martyr
Noa the Just54thRust
Kulu Mastermind95thWeapons Training and Opportunity
Clockwork Aide46thSwiftness
Total Mana:43

My plan is to have Djinn Chwala up front for the thorns ability. I have a Carnage Titan in the 2nd spot for the reach and double strike. Then I have Vruz with sneak and martyr. I also have rust and swiftness as support abilities. At the same time, Clockwork aide works well as my last spot to tank any sneak attacks.

Round 1

round 1.png
At first glance, I think that it is an even match. Most of the Armor outside of his first monster is removed due to rust the thorns will help to deal damage to those melee monsters. At the same time, my summoner has decreased the ranged damage which accounts for half of my opponent's lineup. The only issue is that my opponent has all his damage focused on my first monster and my strategy to have clockwise as a sneak tank failed.

Round 2

round 2.png
It's not looking great for me because my tank is down and I haven't done too much damage on my opponent.

Round 3

round 3.png
It's another rough round because I lost another 2 monsters but I should be able to take out the Coastal Sentry if I don't miss. If I do, then my opponent's damage will drop quite a bit and I will still have a chance.

Round 4

round 4.png
I took out the most damaging monster and this will be match of who can deal enough damage first and if I can dodge a few more attacks due to the speed difference. I think I still have an advantage due to the speed difference and once that last melee monster dies, then I should be able to decrease the damage even further. I'll just skip to the end of the match.

conclusion.png
I didn't miss any attacks and my opponents missed quite a few attacks. Due to this, I was able to take out my opponent's monsters and win the match.

Conclusion

The battle did not exactly like I expected but I was able to win due to my summoner and my strategy. Reducing that ranged damage helped me survive longer and it was a close match. If my melee monsters did not dodge enough attacks, I would have definitely lost.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players play in a ruleset.

Great win. At one point I thought you were going to lose. Thanks to the dodge ability of the Noa. The opponent also played into your hands too.

Kulu Mastermind is a great card but I tend to use Daarg Deadblast more though. It is a great card when you want to use melee monsters.
