Splinterlands Weekly Challenge Battle BATTLE MAGE SECRETS! Ferocity

Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge to share a rule set using a specific card and on this week's post it is a battle with the Ferocity rule set. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because you get to try different strategies and earn some crypto in the process.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

The ruleset this time is fire & regret and ferocity. This means that ranged monsters will get countered and all monsters gain the fury ability. There is also 41 mana available and I am left with the choice of fire, water, death, or dragon splinter.

summoner.png
The summoner I choose to use this time is Thaddius Brood. In a match like this, I think that reducing my enemy's health and magic by 1 is the best choice.

Thaddius Brood4Summoner-1 magic and -1 health
Cursed Windeku61stThorns
Will-o-Wisp62ndWeaken and Flying
Cabalist73rdAmplify
Venari Bonesmith44thPoison and Life Leech
Revealer45thStun
Djinn Muirat96thVoid Armor, Knockout and Giant Killer
Total Mana:40

My plan is just to have a lineup using a few tanky monsters up in front. My focus would be on my thorns tank and if there was a void monster, then I would rely on poison or thorns. At the same time, I have amplify to increase the thorns damage. The Will-o-Wisp was a questionable choice but I was relying on it for the weaken ability. In the last spot, I have Djinn Muirat for any sneak monsters.

Round 1

round 1.png
At the first glance of my opponent's lineup, I think I have the stronger lineup. My opponent has only had 4 monsters that can attack. One of which will take a long time to kill off my last monster. It hurts to see that my magic damage will go down, but that is why I built my team around having abilities like poison.

Round 2

round 2.png
I took out my opponent's tank and took minimal damage. My tank should take most of the hits next round and I should be able to take out that void tank this round or next round.

Round 3

round 3.png
That void tank will be dead from the poison and his sneak monster should die from the thorns (if it hits me). So there isn't much my opponent can do against me. I will skip forward to the end because I don't think the rest of the match is that interesting.

conclusion.png
The sneak monster died to thorns and I slowly wiped out the rest with my magic damage.

Conclusion

The battle this time around went exactly as I expected. The lineup I went for was able to take advantage of all the different abilities and wipe out my opponent. The amplify ability worked great with my thorns and that dealt a lot of damage against my opponent. Without it, taking out those melee monsters would have been way harder. With the weaken from my wisp and my summoner, I made my opponent start with -2 health on all of his monsters. This made it easier to take out my opponent and win the match in the end. The only thing I have to say about my opponent's lineup is that he didn't have enough damage. I felt that having 2 monsters that could not attack lowered his attack power quite a bit and his damage was also not very targetted.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players play in a ruleset.

Interesting use of Will-o-Wisp with summoner Thaddius Brood to reduce the health of enemy monsters, it is worth considering when I use death element. Well done on the victory.
