Splinterlands Weekly Challenge Battle! DRAGONS!

Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge to share a battle using a specific card and on this week's post it is any Dragon battle. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because you get to try different strategies and earn some crypto in the process.

Featured Monster: The Vigilator

The Vigilator is a dragon splinter card. This card has both ranged and melee attacks so it is great in a rule set where melee or ranged can attack from anywhere. It has double attack at level 1, thorns at level 2 and poison at level 3. When there is opportunity, sneak or melee can attack from anywhere, this card can do 6 damage per turn so it's an amazing card.

As a card, I use it from quite often under the right rule sets. I only have a level 1 version of this but even then this card ends up being a MVP of the fight quite often.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

rule set.png

The rule set this time is sneak and heavy hitters. With 40 mana available and I have access to fire, water, death and dragon splinters. This is one of the rule sets I mentioned earlier where Vigilator shines.

summoner.png

The summoner I choose to use this time is Byzantine Kitty. This summoner gives me +2 speed, tank heal and true strike. Combined with the existing rule set, I think combining Vigilator with even more speed makes it more deadly. Tank healer will make my front line more sturdy and it should give Vigilator more turns to attack before it takes it's spot up front. The final true strike makes it so my attacks never miss and it's one of the best thing as damage is guaranteed so long as I attack (+2 speed comes into play here).

My strategy is to have a good physical tank in front while having War Chaang in the last spot. Right before War Chaang would be Vigilator and the rest will be filled with some damage dealers. Like this any sneak monster might just die from retaliate.

Round 1

At the first glance of my opponent's lineup, I think this will definitely be a hard fight because I see Magnor up front. My win rate against Magnor tends to be quite poor but I think I have a chance with the extra speed plus rule set allowing Vigilator to deal a lot of damage.

Round 2

round 2.png

Magnor still managed to get a round off on me but I was able to kill it off on my very first turn. Both War Chaang and Chain Golem are holding up well as my tanks so my Vigilator can definitely deal more damage. I actually thought my Chain Golem would live longer but I forgot his summoner gave Magnor pierce.

Round 3

round 3.png

It was a bit unexpected but my opponent missed once and my War Chaang retaliated so I was able to deal some extra damage. I was thinking that my Chain Golem would die but that tank heal definitely increased my chances.

conclusion.png

I didn't expect it but I was able to finish off my opponent on this round without my opponent attacking. All that speed definitely paid off as I was able quickly take out my opponent's monsters.

Conclusion

The battle this time around went exactly as I expected. In a way I am glad my opponent did not use any magic monsters and I realized after the battle that snipe could of hit my Vigilator. However I am not that concerned with that because it has decently high health so it can survive a few hits. My opponent did not use either of those two skills so the battle went my way and I was able to take out his Magnor before it did much damage to my line up. After all it was level 2 and had the enrage skill with pierce. I would still have to say that Vigilator was definitely the MVP of my own team as it did 6 damage per turn. When you add that with all my other cards, I was able to deal 16 damage per turn. Combined with the true strike and +2 speed, I was able to quickly attack before my monsters could take extra hits.

From what I can see I think my opponent could of left Magnor somewhere in the middle of his own line up. If he did that then I think he can extend Magnor's life. However I don't think it would of mattered in this match since every single card that can attack will attack.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would of done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

This is an epic battle. The both of you used cards I have not seen before which tells me your decks must be amazing.

Both me and my opponent had some legendary cards but yea they are pretty powerful. However I do think my opponent had an edge on me card level-wise so I thought it would be an uphill battle. The two filler cards I had in the middle didn't have much health and I would of lost some more damage if Vigilator was thrown up to the front line.
