Splinterlands: Yodin Zaku is a beast
Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used Yodin Zaku.
Featured cards

Yodin Zaku is a fire archon that costs 7 mana. This card gives all monsters +1 health, ranged attack, and blast. Increasing its level increases the maximum level of cards that you can use. This was one of my first legendary cards, and I used it quite a lot when it was usable in ranked battles, but I haven't touched it much after Modern phased out Untamed. It's an incredibly powerful archon, and I used it despite it being only level 1.
Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The rulesets this time are Equalizer, Lost Magic, and Close Range. This means that all monsters start at the same health, no magic monsters can be used, and all monsters gain the close range ability. There is also 38 mana available, and I can use any splinter except for life, death, and dragon.
This ruleset is interesting because of that equalizer. In particular, using more monsters can be more useful as they all start off with the same amount of health.
| Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| Yodin Zaku | 7 | Summoner | +1 range, +1 health, and blast |
| Drybone Megalodon | 8 | 1st | Flank |
| Chain Golem | 8 | 2nd | Shield |
| Flame Mephit | 2 | 3rd | Flying |
| Lava Spider | 3 | 4th | Snipe |
| Ferexia General | 5 | 5th | Snipe |
| Mantoid | 6 | 6th | Snipe |
| Total Mana: | 39 |
My summoner is Yodin Zakufor for the +1 range, +1 health, and blast. My tank is Drybone Megalodon with flank. Chain Golem is my backup tank with shield. After that is Flame Mephit with flying. Lastly, I have three ranged snipe monsters to take advantage of Yodin's buffs.
The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while dealing damage and outlasting my opponent. The Flank allows Chain Golem to keep attacking, and it will serve its purpose well as a backup tank. The snipe monsters all have increased ranged damage, and snipe allows it to target the middle of my opponent's lineup to deal more damage.
Round 1

At first glance, I think that this match is my win. I just have way more damage than my opponent, and my snipe will be damaging my opponent's backline constantly.
Round 9

A few rounds later, my opponent is down to 2 monsters while I still have 5 of mine. At this point, there is no way my opponent can win because my opponent's monsters don't have much health left, and I doubt that I will miss that many times.

I won that match later that round.
Conclusion
The battle this time did go exactly as planned. I had my monsters tank the hits while my ranged monsters took advantage of Yodin's buffs to deal massive damage using snipe. There wasn't much as the damage just added up over time and wiped out my opponent.
You can see my entire match here.
What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

What a card this was back in 2021, dominating...
I miss the days when I could use it as much as possible.

It completely blew away the opponent's cards. I think it is one of the best summoners that was ever made by the game. Only if the older cards were not completely phazed out by the owners of the game.
How much is a max level Yodin selling for, nowadays?
There is only 1 max level Yodin on the market, and it is for sale at $399.
I recall days when I used to rent Zaku for my deck. That was one hell of a feared summoner, I wonder if it is still as powerful with new powerful summoners now plenty in the game.
It's powerful still, but the places where you can use it is limited. So it's not as useful.
That legendary summoner card is very powerful
