Week 263 | My Splinterlands Art Contest Entry | Coastal Nymph

How is everyone?

I skipped last week's contest because of busyness (as always😆). I need a break once in a while in making art so as not to catch art block, haha.

For this week, I chose Coastal Nymph.

Art Process

I started with a rough sketch. I used two layers and two colors for the body and for the clothing. At this stage, I also drew details of the background which is the beach and the blue, cloudy sky. Sketch is not always the final draft for lineart so, as I drew the lineart, there will always be changes like the position of the hand, facial expression, and some clothing details. I also changed the spear/weapon from the original card.

Applying all the base colors in separate layers. Noticed that I used a special brush for the wave detail on the hair. I used a soft brush and airbrush for the shadowing assuming the light source is coming from the upper right side.

After the body, I added the spear's details just simple shadowing. Next, I put some shells as her necklace. I airbrushed peach, yellow, and orange as the colors of the shells. Added some glow as the reflection. Added more glow on the body specifically on the head, shoulder, breast, and legs. On another layer, I added an orange glow to the hair.

For the background, I applied a default gradient blue and white color for the sky. I drew a simple shore, ocean, and mountain and blurred it out. For the clouds, I used a special brush that can be downloaded on the asset store.

Final Art

Added the tropical flowers and fixed the perspective using the transform tool. added some reflective orbs too. Lastly, I topped the layers with a noise monochrome and set it to 10 percent opacity.

Finished art!! 🥰 I enjoyed doing this art.
