Week 275 | My Splinterlands Art Contest Entry | Nomos

Hello, hello! πŸ˜βœ¨πŸŽ‡

I am finally back after a month of break. πŸ˜† I kind of miss holding my digital pen, to be honest. Since I have been on vacation mode for the past holidays, I had a good rest away from blogging for a minute. I also had more time spent with loved ones. Christmas and New Year were nice pauses, and now, back to reality! πŸ˜†βœ¨

For this week, my card of choice is Nomos.

Art Process

The first is to do the sketching. I separated the body and the clothing into two layers so that I could adjust them easily later on. While sketching, I suddenly forgot the shortcuts, and wow, that was only approximately three weeks of not touching my drawing tablet. πŸ˜† That is why I should draw consistently to not get rusted. So going back, I find the clothing of this card somewhat ancient warrior-inspired. 😊 Next, I used a solid pen for the lineart. For now, it looks bare. πŸ˜…

Applying the base colors in separate layers for each of the elements. This helps me in adding texture and shadowing per element. I manually draw the diamond shape details on the black part of the clothing, and also the buttons for the hanging planks on the sleeves. In the next picture, I added the shadowings using an airbrush and flat brush.

After applying the soft shadows, it's time to put some hard shadows by using textured brushes. It makes the elements 3D-ish, in my opinion. Next, I put glow on the parts that the light source can reach. I spent a lot of time on the chest since I do not usually draw muscular guy characters. πŸ˜… Aside from the skin, I put glow brushed the clothing and the hair.

Lastly, add the background. I chose the color blue in contrast with the red shades of the character. I also intensified the glow in other areas. I also sharpen the filter to make the lines crispier. The final touch is adding a noise texture.

Dude that is so cool!! I keep seeing so much talent on here!!

I am a terrible... wait, no... I am WORSE than terrible at Drawing/Painting!!

My "art" is more "Storytelling" - like some of my posts! But you're extremely talented and this is great work!!
