Souldbound Reward Cards - Necessary? Priority? and What do I feel about the Splinterlands experience as a game?

untitled.gif

Lots of talk about Soulbound reward cards and I've already mentioned in my first post that I'm fine with having it but the debate about this item seems to be bigger that I thought.

I'm not well versed in economics and what not but Soulbound is not something I'm concerned with right now. Anyway you'll see below where I'm more concerned with. I don't care if Soulbound happens or not.

Soulbound
Cannot be traded. You get it. It's locked to your account.

Arguments on Ownership
Sure. I get that but it's just a reward card. Anything else you buy, you will own. Why isn't anyone complaining about potion ownership? You can't sell that and we have hundreds of them.

What difference does it make (being soulbound or not)?
I don't know. I'm just a dude behind a computer. I honestly do not understand what impact this will do in the long run. In my mind, should this even be top priority?

Should this even be top priority?
This is probably at the back end or somewhere in the middle in terms of priority for me. We're stagnant in terms of player base. Just cannibalizing each other in the ecosystem. Top priority should be what will drive interest for people to actually play Splinterlands. Gameplay, User experience aren't great. They really should be prioritizing that.

Gameplay Experience
Once sample I feel that takes the experience out of Splinterlands is being able to skip battles and see the results immediately. I thought about autobattlers like hearthstone battlegrounds and teamfight tactics. Why do I love playing those games even if they take so long to actually finish one game. Because I get to watch the entertainment of building teams and see how they work out. Since battles are skippable, we just keep moving onto the next.

How I play Splinterlands and I assume similar to many other players
Did I win? yes, onto the next battle; Did i lose? yes, onto the next battle. I wouldn't care less what happened in battle. I just want to go into the next and next because what matters to me is did I rank up? Did I get enough chests? Did I make money today? If people are having fun, you wouldn't skip a single battle that happens in SPL.

You know what? I could be part of the problem. SPL attracted me because I can play and earn at the same time. In all honesty, if you take the earnings away, just put this mano y mano with hearthstone or marvel snap or any other card game that you can't earn from, I would go to hearthstone in a heartbeat because it's fun and entertaining. I stopped hearthstone mainly because I can't earn from it. It took me a while before I learned to appreciate Splinterlands for what it is.

What is my point here? When I first discovered Splinterlands, I looked at the game and it didn't look good. I was not interested (until I found out you can earn a lot from the game). If you plan to get more people to play the game because they're having fun, the game needs a facelift... better user experience, less barriers to entry, fix the darn sounds (it's all over the place), Better mobile experience (because a lot of players would want mobile accessibility)

Oops I rambled again. Why do I complain so much? Because I want the game to succeed but I just can't see the light at the moment. I'm honestly worried. That's all.

Happy Holidays.
