I rented an Alric.

I rented an Alric, and it was amazing! I started playing Splinterlands in November.
As I started to learn the metagame I became familiar with magic spamming. People do it because it's such an effective strategy. Your hits don't miss, and they get under your opponent's armor. Using Alric was a very effective way to get past bronze. After getting into silver the strategies became a little more diverse and you were more likely to face Bortus paired with Torhilo.

With the advent of Chaos Legion, I found that overnight Alric was out of my starter deck and replaced with a bunch of Chaos legion cards. The other Beta cards were out of the starter deck too, but Alric is the one I've missed.
I think it's been good for gameplay. The strategies employed in bronze league are more diverse.
This season I've been able to work my primary account back into silver like usual. You can still do some magic spamming with Obsidian but frequently you'll face the mirror match or Bortus or Thaddius.
I finished last season with both my primary account and secondary account in silver III. The primary account had a much higher rating, but the secondary account was able to maintain silver. This season my secondary account has languished in bronze II and occasionally fallen into bronze III. I finally decided to do something about it. In the past I had rented a Mylor for 1 day. This time I decided to rent all of the cards that have been important for winning in my primary account plus a little extra.

That was the grand total for these bad boys.

My lineup changes with the ruleset but I quickly found that I was leaning on Alric, and it was working. It wasn't really just like the old days. In the old days everyone else had Alric too. Magic spamming your way through bronze had maybe a 60-70% win rate. Now it's rare to face the card because not many people can afford their own Alric, and people don't expect to see it. The price has dipped below $100 now but that still has most people priced out. With an Alric back in my deck, my win rate shot through 80%. Winning is easier than ever. Alric was my second most expensive rental with a price tag just over 3 cents.
My secondary account is back in silver. Now that my DEC capture rate has recouped overnight, and I have a new quest. I plan to run my rating up over 2000 and recoup the cost of those rentals.
Until next time. I'll see you in the game. Thanks to any of you who like, follow and repost my stuff.
