Leveling Up Your Dragon Monsters for Level 3

image.png

After feeling like you have some command over bronze league it may be worthwhile to dip your toes in silver league.

The max levels that you can play for silver league are level 5 commons, level 4 rares, level 3 epics and level 2 legendaries. I have a few cards maxed out for silver league, but certainly not all that I want to and when you're getting started in silver league there are other important steps along the way. Most of the summoners that we play with are rare. When we get them up to level 3 we can start getting added benefits in silver league without really being maxed out for silver league. It's an important stepping stone.

At level 3 you can play level 4 commons, level 3 rares, level 2 epics and level 2 legendary monsters. It's interesting that you can't go any higher with epic monsters than you did in bronze, so you won't see any epic monsters on this list, but at level 3 you can start playing level 2 legendary monsters and some of those are incredible.

I think these are some of the most impactful dragon monsters to start leveling up if you happen to have some level 3 rare summoners to pair them with. These upgrades will also work if you have level 2 legendary summoners.

Chaos Dragon

This is the daddy of them all. At level 1 Chaos Dragon is a decent card dealing 3 damage to some random target if you happen to have 14 mana to spend. At level 2 Chaos Dragon is amazing! 3 damage to a random target with 2 more damage to adjacent targets with blast damage means that 7 damage is not unusual. Finishing off 1, 2 or even 3 monsters is also not unusual.

Gloridax Soldier

At level 3 Gloridax Soldier picks up a second melee damage.

Runic Skyclaw

At level 3 Runic Skyclaw picks up a 4th ranged attack damage.

Dragonling Bowman

At level 3 Dragonling Bowman picks up a 2nd ranged attack damage.

Carnage Titan

At level 2 Carnage Titan picks up a third melee damage and with double strike that means 6 damage.

Most legendary monsters pick up another ability at level 2, some of those abilities are more impactful than others. I think the best ability for any legendary dragon monster to pick up is the blast ability on Chaos Dragon. There are several other legendary dragons that pick up great abilities, but this is the best and is fairly affordable.

When picking out new cards to level up, it's important to consider whether you'll be playing in modern or wild format. Most of the cards that I discussed in today's post are legal in modern. If you start to level these cards up remember that they will revert to a lower level if you play them with a rare summoner at level 1 or 2, or even a level 1 legendary summoner.

I would love to hear what some of your favorite cards are to level up. I'll keep pointing out the ones I can. Another great place to find them is the cards that you get beat by on the battlefield.
