Where I found it

After having Brandon Sanderson books recommended to myself and my wife for years she picked up the Alloy of Law 8 or 9 years ago. We read it together and we loved it.

After the Alloy of Law we went back and read the original Mistborn trilogy which if anything is even better than the Wax and Wayne books. This is the 2nd book in the Wax and Wayne "trilogy". I picked this up and read it pretty soon after it came out in 2015. I just restarted because I've forgotten so much and there was a 4th book that came out in 2023.

Plot

There are several terrorism plots that break out as background for the crime happening in the city. Wax's uncle with the Set join the fray along with a bigger more mythological changeling which appears to be set on killing the governor.

The big trouble starts when it looks like these things could all be connected along with trauma from Wax's past.

Favorite lines

"I ain't drunk," Wayne said, sniffling. "I'm investigatin' alternative states of sobriety."

"Don't make trouble at the pub tonight, Wayne," the man intoned in response. "My temper is really short." "Temper?" Wayne said, passing him. "That's a funny name for it, mate, but if the ladies like you givin' silly names to your body parts, I ain't gonna say nothin'"

Rating 4/5 stars

Even having read the original Mistborn trilogy it's tough to keep up with all the people referenced as deities in this series. This is another great book by Sanderson, but just a great book by Sanderson only borders as top 10 when he's done so many.

I am hoping to share plenty of book reviews. What sort of information do you like to see included in book reviews? I’m hoping to keep them fairly short and sweet. What do you think of my format for this post?

If you have any recommendations for ways to improve my posts, please share them. I hope this post has been helpful and informative. Thanks for reading and thanks for all the upvotes, reblogs, comments and follows.

Lastly, I'm hoping that this book club will be interactive. I would love to hear your comments and considerations if you happen upon a review for something that you've read yourself. I'll try to do the same for you when I stumble onto a book review for something that I've already read.
