Where I found it

After having Brandon Sanderson books recommended to myself and my wife for years she picked this up 8 or 9 years ago. We read it together and we loved it.

After this book we went back and read the original Mistborn trilogy which if anything is even better than the Wax and Wayne books. The sequels to this weren't out yet, so I was stuck waiting. I was able to finish off this "trilogy" when the 2nd and 3rd books came out, but I just restarted because I've forgotten so much and there was a 4th book that came out in 2023.

Plot

Waxillium Ladrian has been a law keeper out in the roughs. He moves to the big city to manage his uncle's estate after an unexpected passing. Wax has a strong sense of duty and is soon drawn back into crime fighting.

Favorite parts

Pretty much every scene with Wayne. He's hilarious! It bugs me that he's a kleptomaniac, but pretty much everything he says is hilarious.

The love triangle grabs hold of you pretty easily where Wax likes the one girl better and she likes him back, but he's stuck with the other out of a sense of responsibility.

Rating 5/5 stars

I like the original Mistborn trilogy better, but this is easily a 5 star book and I was happy to read it again. The Alloy of Law is an excellent stand alone book, but if you've never read any Brandon Sanderson before, I would recommend starting with the Mistborn trilogy.

I am hoping to share plenty of book reviews. What sort of information do you like to see included in book reviews? I’m hoping to keep them fairly short and sweet. What do you think of my format for this post?

If you have any recommendations for ways to improve my posts, please share them. I hope this post has been helpful and informative. Thanks for reading and thanks for all the upvotes, reblogs, comments and follows.

Lastly, I'm hoping that this book club will be interactive. I would love to hear your comments and considerations if you happen upon a review for something that you've read yourself. I'll try to do the same for you when I stumble onto a book review for something that I've already read.
