Where I found it

After having Brandon Sanderson books recommended to myself and my wife for years she picked up the Alloy of Law 8 or 9 years ago. We read it together and we loved it.

After the Alloy of Law we went back and read the original Mistborn trilogy which if anything is even better than the Wax and Wayne books. This is the 3rd book in the Wax and Wayne series. I picked this up and read it pretty soon after it came out. I just restarted because I've forgotten so much and there was a 4th book that came out in 2023. I've started reading the 4th book now and it picks up right where the 3rd left off.

Plot

In this book Wax is still angry at Harmony (his god) for what he went through in the last book. Harmony sends a kandra to recruit Wax with sorting out what happened to another kandra. When Wax refuses Harmony and the kandras (somehow it feels like the plural of kandra shouldn't have an s) have a little work around by reaching out to his friends and by tempting him with information on his sister's whereabouts. Wax gets sucked into the mystery and again takes the lead on figuring things out. He certainly has help from a colorful group of friends.

Favorite lines

"A man doesn't have to like his duty, he just has to do it."

"Wayne has the mental capacity of a fruit fly."

Rating 4/5 stars

I was again amazed at how much of this book I was able to forget from the first time I read it. The Bands of Mourning referenced in the title of this book are powerful artifacts and there's a twist on the way they're treated in this book that didn't have quite as much punch when reading it for the second time. This is another great book by Sanderson, but just a great book by Sanderson only borders as top 10 when he's done so many.

I am hoping to share plenty of book reviews. What sort of information do you like to see included in book reviews? I’m hoping to keep them fairly short and sweet. What do you think of my format for this post?

If you have any recommendations for ways to improve my posts, please share them. I hope this post has been helpful and informative. Thanks for reading and thanks for all the upvotes, reblogs, comments and follows.

Lastly, I'm hoping that this book club will be interactive. I would love to hear your comments and considerations if you happen upon a review for something that you've read yourself. I'll try to do the same for you when I stumble onto a book review for something that I've already read.
