Which water cards do I need to pick up from Rebellion to compete

I'm back from a recent vacation and excited to be able to share what insight I have into our latest set. Rebellion is an awesome set that introduces several new abilities and completely alters gameplay with the new summoner tactics. We've all had a chance to try out the new common and rare Rebellion cards. I've touched on some of my favorites in recent posts.

If you want to read about my recent vacation I've added this post https://peakd.com/hive-163772/@jingo-submo/orlandoport-canaveral-for-a-cruise to the pinmapple community.

Over the past several months I've made posts about some of the must have cards to compete in lower level leagues. I continued that series with some priority cards to level up as you get your summoners to level 2, 3 and 4. I didn't have a chance for all of the upgrades that I wanted before Rebellion hit the market, but I still reference those posts regularly for reminders of cards I'd like to level up.

The most recent level 4 update posts are listed here

Rebellion doesn't have enough cards to format this first layer of posts the same way that I did in my previous posts, so what I'll do is use a 5 star rating system for the epic and legendary cards in the set. Here's what each of those ratings represent.

5/5 stars

These are cards that I expect to be staples. These are generally great cards starting at level 1 and should work well in a wide variety of situations. Think cards like Djinn Oshannus, Cursed Windeku and pretty much all the cards with the protect ability that get used like they're going out of style.

4/5 stars

image.png

These cards are good generally and great situationally. Think cards like Ash Mirage and Tinderlock in the going the distance ruleset.

3/5 stars

image.png

These are decent cards that are mostly filler if you don't have anything better. They'll be strong contributors in the right situations. Think cards like Corsair Bosun, Runic Skyclaw and Igor Darkspear. Solid cards that you may not think to use unless the mana cost is just right.

2/5 stars

image.png

These are cards that have the potential to be useful in the right situation, like if the ruleset and the mana line up you might give them a try and you might feel disappointment that this was the best you could come up with. Think cards like Biceratops or Goblin Tower.

1/5 stars

image.png

These are cards that you can't think of a good use for. Maybe I could just burn this card for DEC or maybe they just haven't come up with the right ruleset for it yet. Think level 1 Venari Heatsmith before they came up with weapons training or Goblin Chef. If you aren't familiar with those cards, it may be that you've never used them and/or never bothered to pick up a copy.

So, here we go.

Daarg Deadblast

image.png

4/5 stars

image.png

Magic attacks fit anywhere in your lineup and the water splinter has too many great no attack monsters to pair this with. Stick Daarg behind Kelp Initiate or Noa or Daigendark Surveyor, follow it up with Merdaali Guardian and you've got a lineup. The only thing keeping Daarg from being a 5 star card is the fact that the water splinter is already so full of 5 star options that there's just not enough room for it in every lineup.

Endura Brune

image.png

2/5 stars

image.png

At level 1 the raw stats are fine, there are just too many other options in water for me to even consider this if I have the mana. These reviews are intended for cards at level 1, the value of Endura climbs dramatically with the abilities this card picks up at level 2 and 3.

Captain Fellblade

image.png

5/5 stars

image.png

Fellblade as an epic is more expensive than most of the legendary cards you'll face, because this card is amazing. As more people get their hands on this card, I expect to face it a lot.

Thanalorian Scion

4/5 stars

After exhausting your team to get through these 10 void armor, it just gets resurrected, and you have to do it all over again, possibly multiple times with the likes of River Hellondale and Oshuur.
